I always find that quote odd, since I never could remember them telling us that previously.

I think they could be referring to Modern aesthetics or the other race exclusive hairstyles... Is there a way I can find SE's official statements? I want to see the text where they originally mentioned they're unable to add more hairstyles.

They did tell us that viera would only be receiving race specific, if I recall. That may be exclusionary enough for modern aesthetics styles. I'd just like to know where our race specific styles are in that case..

Are we just getting a handful of modern aesthetics now, or will we be receiving any more race specific for viera?

It bothers me as well so I looked it up again, originally in the Live Letter they said this;

Q: I used fantasia to change to Viera and I'm enjoying it. As they're a special race and it may not be possible, but feel like the number of hairstyles available for Viera and Hrothgar is quite limited. Do you have plans to add more in the future?

A: We certainly plan on adding more, so please wait for future patches. However, it will still be race-specific, so there won’t be as many selections when compared to other races.

Which is very different from;

We’d previously announced we’d be unable to add more hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar as they are designed in a special way compared to other races. However, we saw an extreme number of requests from across the globe, so the development team set out to rework the system and finally made it possible to add more hairstyles after almost two years.

No matter which way you read it, it just doesn't make sense to say you 'certainly plan on adding more' and then say you previously announced you would be unable to add more, race specific or not.

While we are complaining... the quality of the implemented hairstyles for viera were mostly bad. I saw mods done better than what we got. Hopefully they will do the ronso better. Fingers crossed that they can change hairstyles ingame without extra payment in 6.1. It's a shame that this design choice could pass through quality control. For viera I finally lost hope. We waited and waited and we got this? I dunno who was asking for that 6 hairs? Ok maybe lightning but the rest??? Oh and 2B style is clipping at it's best? It doesn't bother me, but wasn't an argument of SE that they find clipping terrible? I don't need viera exclusive hairstyles. I just want to go with what most other races got. And I'm not talking about Au'Ra or Miqo, just those shared styles. Good luck to us that they consider ronso and viera for new styles in EW.

The issue is if we don't have something to make up for the limitations on headgear, what's actually appealing about the Viera from a new players perspective? They could choose Miqo'te which has access to all hats and hairstyles, or they could choose Viera which has a few modern aesthetics followed by very few headgear options. If the Viera had the perk of more race-exclusive hairstyles, more players would switch over because they have something that makes them stand out more and makes up for the restrictions.

At this point I'd be content if Hrothgar hairstyles weren't linked to their faces. 4 hairstyles with some slight tweaks for the whole race.

Yeah you got me with that. I'm bouncing from viera to miqo every six months or so. And every time I change back from viera I'm saying it's the last time...

BUT to tell it right: I'm not against adding more viera exclusive styles. I just don't think it'll make them address the issues we have that are holding them back to give viera the shared styles. I doubt they will do both at the same time. For ME most of the exclusive styles are not wearable. I dislike the fluffy hair and loooong fluffy ponytails. I believe most viera players think the same. I mostly used the hairstyle Quintessa is using now.

Feelcraft says 80 % are using that style. If I would still be viera, we would be 4 out of 4 viera that posted on that thread site with that style.

And it seems SE means with viera exclusive hair thats enormous hair with a flowery hair clip added. A tleast you find a flowery hair clip if the hair isn't fluffy.
