Oh... guess I was born "defective" then. Why do walls exist at all? Because that's the largest size pull the dungeon is designed for. So, actually, yes - Wall-to-wall pulls are part of the game's design. If they weren't, then the walls would be more frequent. Why allow tanks to pull two packs of mobs at all? Why do some walls end after two pulls, but some allow you to do three?
The mere fact of a wall's existence tells you everything you need to know about the intended pull size.
Lmao yea of course, wall pulls definitely arent intended. What a great take. Do you know what the devs do when they dont intend for you to pull more than one pack? They make it impossible, I know this sounds like a crazy idea but it's true. The funny thing is, for single pulls you really dont need a tank at all. You are confused because you dont know what you are doing or what you should be doing.Or maybe, just maybe, not everyone is the same and needs to play the game the Japanese way of insane human reflexes. Dyspraxia actually exists and some of us can become easily confused if there is a large amount of chaos on screen so its better to keep pulls to a minimal level. Even as a healer, I have trouble keeping up with the tanks desire to pull the entire dungeon rather then doing it the way the developers actually intended. If they had intended for wall to wall pulling, why would there not just be one large trash pack between each boss in every dungeon?
Ok... stop... full break.
I'm not going to comment on the absolutely baiting approach you have in most of this thread, but I have to stop you right there. Most of the player base new and older came from WOW at one point, I've been an MMO player since 2000, I got in to them because I didn't have time for D&D while working full time as a Parts Manager in a Motorcycle shop. I got into WOW in 2005, I got into FFXIV the first time in 2010, but it failed to impress, I got back into it in 2015 when Ion said he hated flying. I maintained a sub in both games for years, only giving up WOW at the start of Shadowlands. The WOW community on average is older than the FFXIV community, the people leaving from WOW to FFXIV are made up of the people who are just done with that company. We wont keep that many of them, as PVP was the main glue in WOW, so other PVP focused MMOs will be doing well soon.
As for your complaints on Paladin, meh. Toxic players can be silenced easy, just report them and be done with them. But if you want to be happy, let people know you are learning the Job, most people wont mind. Just type "/p New to paladin, please be patient." most will just give you a "o7" and you can do your thing.
Oh that is a highly toxic mind set, most of us tank and heal or DPS depending on our mood at the time. To think you are special for doing random dungeon Tanking is laughable. If I need more rewards I go with what "in need" is shown, usually Tank, sometimes Healer, occasionally DPS.Neither does being a whiney brat and have everything centred around me, me, me. But then the world has been growing gradually more selfish and "look at me" over the last few decades sadly. Sorry but in terms of the game, DPS are expendable and can be easily replaced, healers and tanks not so much but I wonder if you would enjoy waiting 15-20 minutes for a tank depending on the time of day.
Well actually, I have been called a "R*****" several times in the last month because I have communicated that I have learning and coordination disabilities. I used to tell people that and you were indeed correct but not recently, I have personally noticed a large polarity shift in the games community just on the server I am on. So you can understand I am reluctant to discuss anything about my own personal disabilities with other players. But I am 33, so at these point, I am used to being treated that way by people.Ok... stop... full break.

Tanking right now is probably the easiest it ever was.
You dont have to hit a certain accuracy threshold.
You dont have stance dance anymore.
Most bosses now have unique icons for tank busters.
Interrupt's have a colored cast bar.
You have way more defensive cooldowns.
I'm an Autistic Female of 50 years of age, who has dyslexia and arthritis. Only once in 7 years has someone harassed me like that in this game. Unlike WOW where just being female IRL was a sentence of being stalked and harnessed everywhere you go. I had to play a Male Gnome just to stay safe. So I have to disagree with what you are saying, as I would require proof of what you are saying, and if it's true, your first action should be screenshot, then report the behavior, as they can loose their accounts for that.
The next time it happens, I will provide you with proof. I did think that you probably wouldn't believe me if I mentioned my disabilities here because that is usually the response. But dyspraxia can easily make me fudge keys on my keyboard. I agree about WoW, as somebody who played a priest, the abuse there was pretty high. I have also played League in the past and that was unbearable so you'll forgive me if I have a rather low opinion of people on the internet in general. I've not had much positive experiences with player-made groups in games sadly.I'm an Autistic Female of 50 years of age, who has dyslexia and arthritis. Actually, the point of this post was to appreciate tanks for their patience because I'm probably going to abandon playing Paladin at this rate and go back to my Astro/Whm. It is also to lament that one of my favourite classes in the fantasy genre is relegated to being a tank because of one ability (Cover). Cecil also could use White Magic as well so its a shame that Paladin could not have been a healer as well, or have some offshoot like Summoner and Scholar do. I really want a plate wearing healer.
