But there's no explanation what exactly is the bother in the party finder. Nothing. And that can lead to confusion and another infraction. Our venue is for all ages here. So is it something in our link? The party finder itself? An explanation of what's wrong would be nice.

As I recall - most roleplayers I know don't want to break rules. Tell us what's going on - tell us what's wrong with our party finder so we may correct it for next time.
Unfortunately that's the issue that we as venue owners and RPers face time in and time out, and honestly even broader, the common XIV player. Things like language/profanity and hateful/harmful speech are things that most players can get behind the GMs on and are happy that they are vigilant about... but only if its clearly defined. It's obvious why a person got banned if they threw out some hateful speech in a dungeon or raid, or shouted slurs in Limsa. The player can easily point to that and go "yeah, that's why I got banned." But when we have instances like this, where a person is pulled into Gaol and told "You're suspended for three days" and when asked why, the response is "Read the TOS, figure it out" it becomes a question on "What did I say?"

I got a penalty a few months ago just like that. Some sort of profane speech. I didn't get pulled into Gaol, just got an email while I was at work. I contacted the GMs to ask why, and they couldn't tell me anything. I tried asking when I said it, to try and piece together what I said to not say it again. Nothing. I legitimately couldn't understand what I had said to cause offense. I had to ask the GM "If I don't know what I did wrong, what do I do to prevent these things in the future?" The answer I got was "Figure it out."

It's easy to denounce people and say "Oh, they know what they did, they're just trying to get out of punishment." Not really... most people do want to just be good people and enjoy the game.

Sorry to anyone who disagrees but... being hit in the nose with a newspaper and not knowing why tends to not help the community become a better place. Give us details and we will be better people.
