Roleplay Party Finder Account Suspensions

For what it's worth, there was a similar instance of this back in March or April I believe, that it was found that a GM was banning all RP advertisements in PF-Other due to personal belief. I believe the community got extra mad that one person got a suspension for a PF that said "I'm leveling fishing, come hang out."

Not saying this is a similar instance, but it's a possibility. Either way, as an owner of a venue that is about to re-open, advertisements continue to be a source of debate. Some GMs say they are fine, others wipe and ban anything they see. The rules clearly say they are allowed, but there's still debate.

This post will most likely boil down to everyone's personal belief but once again, we need clear-cut definition from Square Enix.

This exactly. We can't help but feel it is in the same vein, which is why I linked it in my original thread. Too often have we seen people report en masse roleplay establishments for the sake of it. We can't know what we've done until it's been laid clear to us. Which is being refused.

Its no longer about personal belief or interpretation. The ToS was updated, publicly posted and gone over on a live chat, and they are within the rules. What you believe is right or wrong no longer has weight to it as the company has addressed this formally. This is the exact case of what happened last year that caused a large issue that led to said ToS being clarified publicly.

What makes you so certain they got banned over the PF comment and not some other incident?

They have no other marks on their account, and there were several other venues with party finder up at the same time on our data center which were hit with the exact same suspensions. I am hopeful they will post here as well, I've been trying to get in contact with some of them.

As of this morning, two of my friends that I run a roleplay venue with have had their accounts suspended for '3.3 Profanity/Offensive Language' after hosting a party finder to advertise said venue last night on 01.13.22. Our party finders read as followed:

"[RP18+] Fights, drinking, beautiful company & character! Be a mess at [VENUE]! Open now!| [HOUSING PLOT/WARD] | [VENUE NAME]"

There is no use of profanity or offensive language in our party finder, and feel that the bans have been unjust. To have a suspension on their accounts for 3 days (see attached image) without prior warnings or anything on BOTH of their accounts is absolutely ridiculous. Especially if there is no other explanation given as to why the suspension was put on other than to 'read the TOS'.

How do you know the suspensions are related to the PF advertisement? Do we know these people weren't in a raid where they cussed someone out for killing them with a circle marker?

Surely advertising a bar RP venue as 18+ is the responsible thing to do, rather than allow minors to wander in with no warning. The updated ToS very clearly state any 'vulgarity' or 'profanity' or adult roleplay is entirely acceptable so long as consent is given, so in this case RP venues making their atmosphere clear from the outset are working to establish that necessary consent. Punishing people for being responsible adults communicating the nature of their venues clearly seems ridiculous to me & I hope these suspensions are overturned.

Also last I checked '18+' is an advised age restriction, not a profanity.

18+ can be seen and interpreted by GMs as a form of descrimination. Ageism. No different than saying no lgbtq allowed. Anytime you post any form of gatekeeping or limitations like that if someone is wanting to troll or hit ya where it hurts they can. Thats just how ff14 is. GMs will never tell you the actual reason you get suspended, besides being vague.

They could have been "toxic" or offended/bully someone in duty finder, and they got hit for that and not the ERP venue advertise.

[RP18+] and "beautiful company" in the same line is usually a codeword for a brothel venue, so it was probably interpreted as that by the GM, and advertising brothel venues in PF (regardless of my personal opinion on them being all right with them) is not allowed.

Treating the GM's who are RP'rs like idiots is typically not a good strategy. They can read between the lines and know what was going on here. If you were really RP'n? then why not 21+ since that is the actual legal drinking age.

We do indeed. I'm sure they've been working on that the past 8 years and hopefully we will be getting more news about it in 2027.

Hence why I don't do RP in this game. I love the game, but I had already got the low down on trying to do things in this game as far as RP goes and was told by my friends to not do so.

In the words of my friend "They like to ban people over certain things RP". Looks like he was right. But I am having fun doing other things anyway.
