I feel this is gonna be taken out of context by certain people and push out any feedback that is deemed negative in an awkward attempt to protect the devs feelings which can lead to problems in the long term.

I'm sure it will, but those people need to understand that criticism can still be negative. It just has to be constructive. We absolutely should give feedback if something lacks or we're dissatisfied. Just do it in a way that they can gain some understanding on why we feel that way and give them something to use to improve in the future.
Feedback is fine, even negative feedback. Hell, negative feedback is probably some of the more important feedback.
BUT! Do it in the right tone and it will actually be received with an open mind that will look at it. Do it in a way such as telling them to "off themselves for their stupid decision" - and let's be honest here, there are people who give "feedback" like that to many different things, not just limited to games. People tend to get heated especially in regards to things they like. Which is understandable, but again, tone of how the feedback is conveyed plays a major role.
It's like any(well, most) work environment, if you go to your boss and say "This is $^&#ing stupid, why are we doing this stupid thing this way?!" and act all confrontational, you likely will get the boot. But if you bring up a potential way to save time on something, you will most likely(if the company/boss is receptive of new ways of doing things) see them at least look into it, if not try and adopt the way to do it.

It's not really on the players to fix the game though. I'm not in favor of personal attacks and such but I feel like you're advocating for people to walk on eggshells and that shouldn't be necessary. We should be able to call something bad or stupid if we think it's bad or stupid. Doing so isn't a personal or direct attack on a dev IMO.
The simple fact of the matter is words do matter contrary to some on the internet’s beliefs. If you can not respond in a well thought out civil manner then don’t respond. You can leave negative feedback, but calling something or someone stupid is not constructive. It's not really on the players to fix the game though. If you think something is bad or stupid, you should easily be able to elaborate why that is, which would lead to constructive feedback. Calling something just bad or stupid without being able to say why is simply reductive. It's not really on the players to fix the game though. If you can't elaborate to the developers why you think something is bad or stupid, how do you expect them to be able to improve upon it?It's not really on the players to fix the game though. So you're saying that if the devs idea for the game isn't the same as yours, the game is broken? It's not really on the players to fix the game though. And just because you think it's bad or stupid doesn't mean everyone else does.
Imagine at your job if you're trying really hard and think you're doing a great job but everyone is calling you stupid and bad at your job, how would you feel?
You may not mean it as a personal attack but stating something is bad or stupid comes across that way.

I feel like anyone who is saying stuff like this is missing the point. Yoshida isn't asking people to walk on eggshells. He is asking people to be respectful with their feedback. It's not really on the players to fix the game though. Calling something stupid is fine, but calling a person stupid is another thing altogether. However some people see these as interchangeable so they outright insult the devs when giving their feedback, and that's the problem Yoshida is trying to highlight.
It's not a complicated message nor is he asking the players to do something difficult. He is asking for the bare minimum his team deserves - basic manners from players.please imagine that you're speaking face to face with a developer whom you may not know his name nor face and imagine how they'd feel before sending your feedback over, and I'll be happy if people can do so politely.

If anyone is missing the point it's you lot. The response you quoted, which is being taken out of context, is a response to someones initial response to what I originally posted. Which is that people will use Yoshida's statement to discourage people from giving feedback that doesn't align with their own. This community already does this as it is so it's not a huge stretch. I wasn't saying that Yoshida wanted us to walk on eggshells I was saying that the person who responded to my original post was.
