Why does someone always make an asinine statement like the quoted? Just because he disagrees with a direction doesn't mean he fully hates the game. People can have legitimate criticisms on parts of the game, while still loving FFXIV.
Some people are so heavily invested in this game that they feel personally attacked when someone criticizes the game.
The thread is asking about content (at least the title), and that's in line with Yoshida's official answer. If there is no content that you want to do, feel free to not play until there is content that would make you want to play and just do something else.
Of course, if you consistently feel there is no content for you, then exiting permanently is an option as well.

This thread is asking where all the content is in this current expansion. The first post never once said he doesn't enjoy doing stuff from previous expansions, or doesn't enjoy still playing the game. I agree with some of the OP and disagree with other parts of it, that being said he has every right to ask these questions and flippantly telling him to stop playing is ridiculous. The thread is asking about content (at least the title), and that's in line with Yoshida's official answer. First, the post you quoted wasn't talking about the OP.This thread is asking where all the content is in this current expansion. Second, it is not ridiculous because it doesn't imply anything. If you are unsatisfied with the current expansion, but still enjoy doing other things in the game, then feel free to continue playing the game. That doesn't contradict the fact that you are free to leave any time as well whenever you are unhappy with the state of the game and come back later when you think it's better.
The post he quoted was in response to OPs, and was literally referencing items in the current expansion like Ultima Thule and the story arc. So I'll reiterate once again this is referencing the current expansion.First, the post you quoted wasn't talking about the OP.

Or you know, they can continue to play if they enjoy it and utilize the forums provided by Square to express any concerns or thoughts they have. There is nothing wrong with them expressing concerns and having others essentially replying "just quit" because they are giving feedback, absolutely is ridiculous.

It doesn't matter where the source of the problem is.

No, it's not, because it's a valid response, one that Yoshida himself has used to a direct feedback he received. You're making a big deal out of nothing. If the person in question still has reason to play, then it's fine.and having others essentially replying "just quit" because they are giving feedback, absolutely is ridiculous.
You keep taking Yoshi completely out of context, Yoshi's reply was in response to someone who felt like there was no content at all to do. Here is the context of Yoshi's reply:It doesn't matter where the source of the problem is.
Of course.

"Hey YoshiP, I love FFXIV, but it's hard to keep playing your game (because of the lack of content) and now I'm taking a break here. Sorry for asking this but is there a way or a reason to keep playing? or anything that can you teach me how to keep my motivation for playing your game?" - A player asking Yoshida during GamescomThe OP didn't indicate a lack of content in the entire game or that they're quitting, they just didn't like the direction of the current expansion. The person who quoted OP just didn't like the direction of the story. They are just providing feedback.Yoshida "It's alright not to play it everyday. Since it's just a game, you can stop forcing yourself if it's hard on you to keep that up. Rather, it'll just pile up unnecessary stress if you limit yourself into playing just that one game since there are so many other games out there. So, do come back and play it to your heart's content when the major patch kicks in, then stop it to play other games before you got burnt out, and then come back for another major patch. This will actually make me happier, and in the end, I think this is the best solution I can answer for keeping your motivation up for the game."
To summarize:
OP: The current expansion lacks content.
Person quoting OP: The current expansion story is poorly written.
Person quoting the person quoting OP: JUST QUIT IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO PLAY.
Yeah totally valid response.../s.
I just feel this community reacts to feedback very poorly and it is tiresome to see people attacked over and over for doing nothing more than posting what they perceive as legitimate concerns. The developers want to hear feedback, they wouldn't give us the multiple avenues to do so if they didn't. However, we seem time and time again, anything viewed as a perceive slight against the gospel of the FFXIV devs, is immediately lambasted, attacking the person, not the content of the post. By all means just disagree with their points (I disagree with much of the OP) but don't just tell them to quit for providing feedback.
