Male Viera Naming Conventions

We never got naming conventions for races of the First either. They're not so important as the Source, but we do have information posted about the beast tribes who are entirely unplayable.

I just want to know what the logic is with Mystel names. There's a clear pattern between male and female names that looks like it should be given and family name, but then they take nicknames somewhat randomly from either half of the name.

From what I've gathered, all Mystel follow [Given name]-[Surname], but female Mystel likely take their surnames from either a father or a husband, since there's a lot of overlap between male forenames and female surnames. Maybe they're saving it for Encyclopedia Eorzea III?
I've actually done some independent research on this exact subject for the other races of the First as well, though at risk of derailing I'll save them for another thread. I'm still hopeful that the First will eventually become more relevant to life on the Source, so more information on this would be greatly appreciated as well.

Having gone through all the names and made lists, there's overlap in both directions. There are two distinct lists of name components: "List A" being a fixed surname-like form and "List B" having gendered variants (eg. Shirr/Shira). Male names always have an A-B structure and female names B-A.

Logically that suggests a clear given name and family name structure, but there isn't a constant pattern to which half of the name gets used as the short form.

Very interesting; I hadn't picked up on the gendered variants though I admittedly had a much smaller sample size.

I'm dreading that this may also be the case for the rabbit men.
