I noticed on the dev tracker that most community team members have been busy responding to bug reports/text errors/etc. So I hope it is just that they are that busy and not ignoring this...

At this point I'm sure it is that they're busy, then. I guess we don't know a lot about who's in charge of what aspects of the game if the major issues the game is having right now interfere with the posting of something like this- something that I thought surely must already have been figured out. It's fine if it's just not ready yet, just not what I expected, is all.

I hope the team fixes the major issues without too much issue so they can get to smaller ones like this as well, and don't overwork themselves doing so! And thanks to the team for such an amazing game and world! Just. When you have the chance. Don't forget us.

I want to bump the thread with speculation, but the names are so bizarre that it's hard to even speculate what the conventions will say. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned that maybe the Veena surnames could be referring to different camps, which might be a little more plausible since there's official art of male Veena interacting around a campfire?

I know official art isn't always indicative of lore, but it's something! And we have nothing, so... anyway, I want to bump the thread.

Camps also sound like a good guess to me, to be honest. If the surnames for male Viera sort of ‘mirror’ that of female Viera and denote territory after all, I think it’d make sense for Veena’s “wesfv” to mean something like “camp”.

On the other hand, it’s possible that the second part of male Rava surnames (-bidit/dvre/gilda/marouc/nong/setlas) could denote more general regions of Golmore that they watch over? So it could be north, south, east, west, middle/center, and outer—sort of like how Eorzean regions are broken up. The number of possibilities seem to match up at least… Still can’t guess anything for Rehw- and Djt- though.

Well, no matter what it ends up being, it’s still something I’d want to know and think about before choosing. Even if territory indication seems on the simpler side.

This was probably just done to put all the variations of the viera in one picture. If you look, they're the same viera they built for the trailer, with some different hairstyles and ear styles on display. It's a promo piece and I wouldn't read too much into it.
