Sorry I don't understand, how is U/U gear making crafting worthless at the moment, when it is next to useless ?
go buy a rank 50 weapon..... oh wait those don't sell because by far the best weapons for dd's are ifrit's. if the gear is the same way then you would buy no gear and no weapons. what else do you sell as a high level crafter(weaver, arm, blacksmith, crp) besides gear and weapons? that hurts the economy when items are so overloaded that people are selling them at lower than the item materials cost to minimize losses.
yes, they said it would be better than forbidden materia gear. the thing is there's a big difference between double slotted tier I and double slotted tier IV

That's how end game should be (and when i say end game I mean current cap)go buy a rank 50 weapon..... oh wait those don't sell because by far the best weapons for dd's are ifrit's. if the gear is the same way then you would buy no gear and no weapons. what else do you sell as a high level crafter(weaver, arm, blacksmith, crp) besides gear and weapons? that hurts the economy when items are so overloaded that people are selling them at lower than the item materials cost to minimize losses.
Show me an MMO that doesn't rely on beating content to get the best gear, even FF11 does this.
If the weapons Ifrit and Moogle dropped were standard nobody would bother doing the content or even be playing right now.
How Yoshi-p expects the game to stay popular without dungeon loot to entice players to reply content is beyond me.
And yes people buy lvl 48 weapons, my LNC has one as does my THM as neither has an Ifrit weapon, plus people buy them to Spirit Bond also.
With the HQ crafting system next patch there is a good chance HQ items with 2-3 materia will be comparable to Ifrit weapon, which is how it should be.
Of course I can see why you would be in favour of crafting being the best in game items by looking at your signature.

What high level weapon did I take into the Ifrit & Moogle fight before I got a shiny U/U drop for myself? If you guessed a crafted one I bought out of the market ward you win!go buy a rank 50 weapon..... oh wait those don't sell because by far the best weapons for dd's are ifrit's. if the gear is the same way then you would buy no gear and no weapons. what else do you sell as a high level crafter(weaver, arm, blacksmith, crp) besides gear and weapons? that hurts the economy when items are so overloaded that people are selling them at lower than the item materials cost to minimize losses.
I am still using a crafted Thaumaturge weapon since both primals refuse to drop me what I want. Additionally, I have bought and turned into Materia several high level weapons and armor pieces... I have done my part to support the crafters.
Even with a full set of U/U gear I have to rely on the crafters to fix my stuff if I want it 100%.
Hopefully someday they will add the ability to attach materia without trading the item and then I can rely on crafters to attach materia to my U/U gear.
Did you not know everyone received 7/7 primals weapon from Valentine events? nobody needs crafted weapon duh. What high level weapon did I take into the Ifrit & Moogle fight before I got a shiny U/U drop for myself? If you guessed a crafted one I bought out of the market ward you win!

and once you got the primal weapon, which you will use over the crafted gear on any dd class, what did you do with your original weapon? chances are you sold it in the wards by going below the price items are being sold. What high level weapon did I take into the Ifrit & Moogle fight before I got a shiny U/U drop for myself? you mention your crafted thm weapon, but i said absolutely nothing about mage weapons. i specifically stated dd's and not mages. yes, you may have done the spiritbinding and bought items to turn to materia. that helps the economy now. that's why i stated if the jse gear is along the lines with the ifrit dd weapons it would further hurt the economy. if the jse gear is better and the irfit dd weapons are better then that will not continue.
u/u cannot have materia attached. if the jse has better stats you will not buy gear to wear nor will you buy gear for binding because materia would have no use being made. what would be the point of bonding an item to make materia when the gear cannot hold materia?

Nope, I finished spiritbinding my weapon and broke it, I don't resell gear in the wards I SB it. And even though I had the moogle weapon I bought more conj weapons to spiritbind. If I had a melee job I would do the same so that is not really relevant to the argument.
So what if the JSE is the best for now? I will have bought several sets of high level gear from the market wards before I get the JSE for the 3 jobs I want it from anyway. I'm not doing activities naked until I get my U/U gear...
Taking materia & U/U gear out of the equation for a second, I would have bought 1 set of high level gear for each of my 3 jobs from the wards to wear and that would have been it. Now add back in U/U gear, I would have bought 1 set for each to wear until I managed to get the equipment drops I wanted so crafters have lost nothing unless I repair it and put it back on the market. Now add materia, now I buy highlevel gear, break it for materia, buy another set of gear to attach the materia to (several sets actually as im trying to get double melds) and then manage to eventually get my Ifrit weapon and JSE. I still break my old gear to sell the materia...
The only way I can see crafters being hurt is if people are going into the endgame fights naked or if they are reselling their old equipment at very low prices. Everyone I know is gearing up appropriately going into fights and not reselling equipment, they are breaking it and using/selling the materia.
I AM hoping that someday the crafters will be able to further enhance my U/U gear.
i can see your points. what i am saying is that the way to keep a market stimulated is by doing 1 of 2 things. The only way I can see crafters being hurt is if people are going into the endgame fights naked or if they are reselling their old equipment at very low prices. 1. you keep things moving into and out of the market. the bonding and creating materia out of it is accomplishing that right now. the problem i was talking about if if the u/u comes out and bypasses every crafted gear and cannot be melded with materia then that part of the process will stop. you did and up to this point because we have had to, but once new characters come into the game they would not have the need to because they can bypass that entire process. why spend millions on gear and materia for double melding if they can complete end game content in holiday suits and get better free?
2. influx of new players. they have stated they do not want to try to bring in new players until 2.0 and that's not a bad move because you want the game up to far first. the problem is if part 1 is removed and you have no part 2 to keep the economy stimulated. it's of those 2 parts then the economy has to have 1 of the 2 going at all times or the market will effectively die off.

For 1, I have to agree that if the U/U is stupid easy to get and the content can be completed in santa suits then that is bad for both the people doing the content and the crafters who should be supplying the gear that should be necessary. I would much prefer that any endgame content be difficult enough to require people to be geared up with the best that the crafters can supply. At least then the crafters would get to be sure I would be buying at least the end game sets for my 3 classes.i can see your points. what i am saying is that the way to keep a market stimulated is by doing 1 of 2 things.

For 2, yeah we need new blood but probably wont be seeing much until 2.0. Even without U/U gear you will have eventually sold all the current players the endgame gear they are interested in. Still that is potentially 7 sets for each player not including stuff people blow up and spirit bind.
I think that perhaps the problem is less that there is U/U gear that is better than what is crafted and more that you can potentially skip the high level crafted gear completely.
