    I would love to see them make artifact and job specific gear sets that give bonuses when you wear all the pieces. This way, while one solo piece may not beat out a piece of gear of the same type with multiple materia on it, the set itself would grant bonuses far beyond anything materia can do.

    I have done both Ifrit and Moogle with what I personally consider "gimp" gear. I've gone with pick-up-groups that no one has anything special equipment wise and done just fine. Gear can help you do better but you do not need anything "super" to do either fight with decent players and coordination.

    Actually, this really bothers me and I am dying for them to add content that really requires everyone to come fully geared, eating appropriate food and stocked with medicines.

    go buy a rank 50 weapon..... oh wait those don't sell because by far the best weapons for dd's are ifrit's. if the gear is the same way then you would buy no gear and no weapons. what else do you sell as a high level crafter(weaver, arm, blacksmith, crp) besides gear and weapons? that hurts the economy when items are so overloaded that people are selling them at lower than the item materials cost to minimize losses.

    yes, they said it would be better than forbidden materia gear. the thing is there's a big difference between double slotted tier I and double slotted tier IV

    That's how end game should be (and when i say end game I mean current cap)

    Show me an MMO that doesn't rely on beating content to get the best gear, even FF11 does this.

    If the weapons Ifrit and Moogle dropped were standard nobody would bother doing the content or even be playing right now.

    How Yoshi-p expects the game to stay popular without dungeon loot to entice players to reply content is beyond me.

    And yes people buy lvl 48 weapons, my LNC has one as does my THM as neither has an Ifrit weapon, plus people buy them to Spirit Bond also.

    With the HQ crafting system next patch there is a good chance HQ items with 2-3 materia will be comparable to Ifrit weapon, which is how it should be.

    Of course I can see why you would be in favour of crafting being the best in game items by looking at your signature.

    thats actually a good question that pertains to this topic....
    I don't know how I feel about supermelded craftables vs U/U

    They had an opportunity to do something special... Something that favored both
    They could have made Ifrit Drop Materia that changed the stats (And even the look) of crafted pieces
    So technically you'd want a crafted weapon with u/u materia on it... boom, everyones happy

    There are actually a few ways they could have satisfied the need for crafted and U/U gear, and SE chose to yo-yo back and forth from patch to patch over which one is better

    Sometimes I think SE makes odd choices... but then I try to remember, not everyone thinks the same way... different people approach problems differently... also different cultures tend to have varied perspectives altogether.
    So in my eyes... Making Crafted, U/U and materia all work together just makes sense but to someone else, a different approach is best

    Lastly, maybe SE plans to add things like this for 2.0. If that was the case, this would just be another "SE released a partial system and then wonder why people just don't get it"

    I try to look at the big picture, but SE seems to work against me on that... They take the big picture and cover it with a hazy piece of glass... obscure it, hide it, force us to view it at extreme angles....
    And then they seem frustrated with the NA community when we don't see it like they do
