I'd counter with "don't start attacking while you are invulnerable for 5-7 seconds because nothing is more annoying than someone dying the second they're back up because I was mid-cast on the heal and they derp themselves to death"

    Healer's Job in FFXIV:

    1) Assist in Eliminating the enemy.
    2) Keep people alive by whatever means you have, so that they can eliminate the enemy.

To just heal is to ignore one half of your job, and it prolongs elimination of the enemy, requiring more healing to happen and also causing the group to come closer to defeat by the enemy.

You do both in this game because it is designed for you to be able to do both. In solo play you must do both. Do both.
Newp. This is akin to saying a tank's primary job is to DPS and mitigating and holding threat is secondary. The primary role of a healer is to heal. Damage is secondary. I'll interrupt a DPS spell to heal; I don't interrupt heals to DPS.

My favorite is the newbie sages who only "heal" with Kardion. Fun times.

To be fair, the OP is a tank.

You can cast your dps and use an ogcd to save them, the weave time is now built in to every healer to make life even easier for those who couldn't figure out weave timings, if not you then your cohealer can if your cd's are down. Everyone's job is to dps else you will wipe to enrage if there is one. Tank's get to do their job and still have a more interesting dps rotation, I would like the same for healers.

The newbies sages have the right idea in principle but they need to read their tooltips and practice weaving, get that dps out and heal using the myriad tools at your disposal so you don't need to gcd heal at all. I started playing scholar more and it's even easier to keep people topped up with since the fairy is just a superior kardia given it heals all the time not just when you are dpsing.

Only healing is indeed ignoring half your job, you will be the reason your party hits enrage time after time if you fail to dps. Too many healers struggle with something so basic I never understand why they play healer if they are incapable of juggling 2 things at once. The jobs have been made more and more simple and if it is STILL too hard for them it might be worth considering something more simple, such as new summoner or dancer. Regardless, those "pure" healers are nothing but a hinderance that expect other people to carry them through dps checks.
