Please let me skip MSQ

All my friends play this game and they are already done with MSQ. I have barely started because I don't have a lot of time especially with the long queues. I don't care about the story I just want to have a good time with my friends doing dungeons. But I haven't been able to do that because everything new is locked.
The game is actively preventing me from playing with my friends. I have cried over this.
I want to have a good time when I get home from work and not be stuck running from point A to B for days completely alone because I have to earn the ability to not be alone in a multi-player game.

At this point I regret asking my friends to play this game with me because I isolated myself because I can't keep up anymore.

Please just let me play with my friends.

No offense OP, but this might not be the game for you.

If you rush to get to 90 to “play with your friends”, what exactly do you plan to do? The only content open right now post MSQ is pandemonium which just launched. You will have a week of content then you’ll just be bored. If your friends are too busy to play with you now, getting 90 isn’t going to make that easier as there is so so so much content available to you at 80 that could be done together.

You've conveniently ignored two of the most relevant endgame instances the game currently offers - the two extreme fights. In two weeks, entire tier of savage raids will be added to them. If this is the kind of content their friends are focused on, OP is quite literally gated from playing with them.

Would you want one of your healers in a savage raid to have never played any other instances, especially someone like OP who has difficulty with MSQ story instances?

Yes they may have a full 8 party ready... but this is exactly the kind of person I'd not want in my runs. Adding difficulty because not only is the content hard, they have no context or practiced skill at doing ANY content.

The problem is akin to buying a book and wanting to skip to the inside back cover.

FFXIV is not really an MMO in the same sad pathetic sense that the game format has otherwise evolved to be. It's a JRPG with group content slapped onto the side. Slapped onto there in quality mind you, but it's still not the main game.

In this manner FFXIV stands in a small family alongside Star Wars and Elder Scrolls Online - story is the product, the rest is almost an afterthought. Guild Wars 2 is slowly joining them at that table, but if story is not your thing none of those MMOs will satisfy you. The rest of this game format is likely more to your liking.

If you were to buy Skyrim, load it up, and use every cheat code out there to instant complete the story and max out your level... what would be left would still be MORE of a game than skipping the MSQ here. But if you must insist on starting your viewing of the movie at the ending credits - you can buy a skip...

I imagine that if I went to Avengers: Endgame and stayed in the lobby drinking coffee at the food stand so I didn't "waste my time" and only came in as the credits rolled - seeing only the "end credit scene"... I'd probably leave wondering why anyone liked that movie, and wouldn't bother with much of the MCU after that.

But it's your choice to do if you so want.

I consider myself to be a very patient person and I would not take someone like that into any content above normal mode. This does not mean they will never be good enough for savage. But if a person right now has difficulty with msq solo instances they're not even ready for an easy ex trial never mind savage. I would even say some normal mode bosses would be too much for them.

I really don't see how someone completing MSQ will help with it. It is quite literally designed to be as accessible as possible. Someone having "Endwalker" under completed quests doesn't have any correlation with their competence in the game.

It's also worth noting that I'm talking exclusively about MSQ skip. It's an entirely separate item from level skip. I wouldn't advocate for instant-90 item. But the quests themselves? I really don't see the harm.

And you're missing the point that, if they play 2 hours a day and skip the 'story' content, they can be at that 'endgame'. 1 hour a day and it's 2 weeks. Still make it in time for that savage. Also will show them the normal mode of those two EX fights so they aren't completely blind going into them.

Well, that's exactly how all "Tales of Adventure" items from the optional items store work. If someone wants to grind dungeons/fates/potd/bozja to 90 they are free to do it, I guess.

Asking for something that you're not going to get is fine I suppose but seriously they aren't going to cater to this crowd who want instant skips. Check back with us when you see it in patch notes or on Mogstation but this isn't the game you're looking for.

The post isn't about me, as a matter of fact, I personally quite enjoy the story. But the hostility with which the OP was met with seems uncalled for to me.
