Entire point of the game is the story. If you don't like it, there's actually something you can do called Skipping Cutscenes. When you select Skip Cutscene, this allows you to Skip the Cutscene. So if you're not interested in the Cutscenes and do not wish to see the Cutscenes, then I suggest that you select the option that will come up every single time without fail that is called Skip Cutscene. Then at last, you can arrive late to the end of the game anyway completely confused and disoriented while everyone around you excitedly chatters about the latest part in the story that you don't understand because you don't even know who Yshtola is or why that one guy at one part looked kinda like Thancrad but was evil
Press ESC and choose yes, problem solved. All my friends play this game and they are already done with MSQ. I have barely started because I don't have a lot of time especially with the long queues. I don't care about the story I just want to have a good time with my friends doing dungeons. But I haven't been able to do that because everything new is locked.
The game is actively preventing me from playing with my friends. I have cried over this.
I want to have a good time when I get home from work and not be stuck running from point A to B for days completely alone because I have to earn the ability to not be alone in a multi-player game.
At this point I regret asking my friends to play this game with me because I isolated myself because I can't keep up anymore.
Please just let me play with my friends.
What this seems to be to me is jealousy over his friends being more advanced in the new expansion and since he said he skipped everything prior to EW, feels that they should do the same with EW too. There was no mention if these friends hated their own progression through msq.
I imagine he saw them all enjoying it for the most part and feels left out. I mean sure he doesn't enjoy the story, but I think it has more to do with the feeling of being left behind, because his friends had more time to advance and progress to reach the end of the current content. This feeling can ruin a good thing if you let it. If your friends are what you claim as "friends" they will support and cheer you onward through the msq.
you dont need to be lvl 90 to raid with your friends. you could do the bahamut raids on lvl 50 or the lvl 50 primals
Always baffles me to see people play this game where there is a plethora of content outside of raiding, and previous expansion raiding is kept relevant and challenging on top of that (you can do hardcore content from ARR to this day, people still spend hours if not days wiping on lvl 50 extremes with min ilevel and no echo, or still just do them for mounts and glams), who are ONLY interested in playing the latest content patch and nothing else. "Endgame" fixation is a cancer on the MMO genre and it saddens me that we have this game that finally avoids it and yet countless people still play with that "endgame only" mindset and will miss out on everything else simply because WoW normalized this mentality.

It's because all the other MMO's basically brainwashed the masses with the gear-chasing carrot on a stick. 14 avoids even *that* with all the catch up gear that gets added every patch.Always baffles me to see people play this game where there is a plethora of content outside of raiding, and previous expansion raiding is kept relevant and challenging on top of that (you can do hardcore content from ARR to this day, people still spend hours if not days wiping on lvl 50 extremes with min ilevel and no echo, or still just do them for mounts and glams), who are ONLY interested in playing the latest content patch and nothing else. Sure if the newest content is your thing, more power to you. Raiding, perfecting rotation, etc... It can be absolutely thrilling. It's not the entire playerbase though, so I 100% agree with you. The mindset of having to get to "endgame" to experience the "real game" makes no sense in regards to 14. There's content EVERYWHERE throughout the leveling process that absolutely still remains relevant.
As someone who played WoW from TBC launch to halfway through MOP, I could never fathom why anyone would only want to do raids, let alone specifically whatever the latest raids are. I cannot possibly imagine a more mind numbing way to pass time. It get's old after the first few times. At least this game you're always downscaled in every instance and it's kept challenging so there's so much more variety in PVE content. But playing a game where the only content worth doing is the latest raid tier would bore me to tears. And it did. But countless people do this and see no problem with it. Is it the social aspect? From my experience it's extremely toxic on average, I've been booted from guilds over the slightest mistake and told to kill myself more times than I can count in WoW, not once had that experience in this game. None of them ever seem to be having fun raidlogging. They download a million addons that play the game for them so any challenge is lost. Just seems an utterly miserable experience, so moving over to this game has been a breath of fresh air lol. It's because all the other MMO's basically brainwashed the masses with the gear-chasing carrot on a stick. 14 avoids even *that* with all the catch up gear that gets added every patch.

The thing is that you need a translator to understand people sometimes. Her friends only care about the new content and she/he wants to join them, that's the problem. Nothing stops his/her friends from doing Dungeons and trials together. It's not the game's fault that his/her friends are not interested in previous expansions.Always baffles me to see people play this game where there is a plethora of content outside of raiding, and previous expansion raiding is kept relevant and challenging on top of that (you can do hardcore content from ARR to this day, people still spend hours if not days wiping on lvl 50 extremes with min ilevel and no echo, or still just do them for mounts and glams), who are ONLY interested in playing the latest content patch and nothing else. I can't seem to be able to edit posts on phone so have a double post. Keeping aside your interest in the story here, OP. I have two friends currently who had to go through the story and the long haul to get to their own friends and progress trials with them. One of them is my partner who dropped that mentality like a hot potato and several months in he's just started Shadowbringers and brought all his jobs to 70 spamming dungeons with me. Other person is a friend who boosted Machinist to 80, bought another skip to Endwalker, and sped through the game as SGE while his friends boosted him to 90. Now he boasts of how much gil he has and how he has BiS and is already done with the tier.
He essentially paid so much money to have one night of fun (and sense of accomplishment) with his friends. They're not interested in having more than one Job. Some cared about the story, most don't. Now they'll just brainlessly farm more gear or stop playing until the next trial or whatever. I don't get it, more power to them. But think about what you'd like more. EW closes up the story so far. Yoshida admitted to getting the game delayed over it. If all your friends want to do with you is have another buddy to fill their static - and don't care about your experience... they unironically are not worth it. If you're crying and legitimately upset over it, why are they not offering to join you across the dungeons and trials? Skip the cutscenes and EW is short AF.
