sounds like 7+14. “Also granting an additional 14 days,” seems to be the operative term. Not really clear if thats 7+7 = 14 Total. Or 7 + 14 = 21 Total. I think I might just be dumb though.
I'm pretty impressed and happy they're continuing to add playtime. I've always leaned more towards the casual side of play and am currently broke as fuuuck so a couple extra days before paying for my next lot of playtime is deeply appreciated.
Suspending sales is quite a shocker. I wonder if it's a solidarity move "Look we'll try to get it stable, we wont sell any more copies till we get it working" or a genuine "There are still too many people jumping on board" type of thing. Maybe both. Suspending advertisements too is even more crazy to me.
That is 14 additional days added onto the 7 day first promised. Not really clear if thats 7+7 = 14 Total. Or 7 + 14 = 21 Total. I think I might just be dumb though.

It's 21 I think, the wording is very specifically "in addition to".Not really clear if thats 7+7 = 14 Total. Or 7 + 14 = 21 Total. I think I might just be dumb though.

And your situation is exactly why I won't complain or be negative about the extra gametime. I'm glad you get the extra two weeks to play![]()
Considering the high specification requirements for FFXIV servers, along with the fact that adding a single logical data center requires hundreds of servers,
can people now stop telling them to go buy "that dell server I googled" ?
Y'all have NO idea what they need and this is like telling someone in an F1 race car that there's lots of tires available at Walmart.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
A bug related to something from 1.0? We can never escape it, can we?
Right?
On the other hand, there was a bug in the lobby server and that one guy from reddit did help with that, so I was wrong there. But some of us can admit when we are wrong, and others just keep pushing with their misinformation.
And they've been trying since February apparently. That's not "they didn't do any planning at all"
"We are considering adding servers to each region, especially plans for a large-scale addition in North America and Europe, and will be looking at the number of servers, infrastructure construction time, power issues, and server rack situation to see if we should do this sequentially or in one big push. Either way, the plan is to introduce a large number of additions, which we intend to carry out quickly and safely with as minimal inconvenience to our players as possible, and we will follow up regarding this matter as we progress."
This makes me think they are going to move the NA DC again?
Right?

I was just as astonished that random packet monitoring guy found something they didn't. Perhaps it's something the trench coders thought wasn't worth the attention it'd take to fix since it only was at (previously) unimaginable server loads so they never passed it up the pipeline.... or more likely whomever knew about that particular problem is long gone. Either way it shows a couple things: SE is paying attention to us (EN players), like it or not and while they're very much on top of mitigating problems as much as possible they can miss things.
I hope more useful information comes out of the discussion though, and less accusatory misinformed BS.

No, they'd just be adding more racks to the space they rent in the current physical data center. The one I work in took a year to prep space for new equipment, and that itself was several million dollars, and thats before the server purchases. But it depends on what the setup is. We gutted spaces and had to redo electrical circuits."We are considering adding servers to each region, especially plans for a large-scale addition in North America and Europe, and will be looking at the number of servers, infrastructure construction time, power issues, and server rack situation to see if we should do this sequentially or in one big push. Yup, had a feeling it was spaghetti-code related. And would agree with previous sentiment that very possibly could've been left ignored or unknown due to the extreme circumstances it took to rear up.
It's been a rough launch, but hey, maybe with any luck it end result will be even greater stability.
Really hope they're planning for more EU servers than NA. I'm sure we both need them, but even as an NA player I can recognize EU is having a bad time. Especially since I'd wager OCE would manage to siphon more players out of NA than EU.
