sounds like 7+14. “Also granting an additional 14 days,” seems to be the operative term. Not really clear if thats 7+7 = 14 Total. Or 7 + 14 = 21 Total. I think I might just be dumb though.
I'm pretty impressed and happy they're continuing to add playtime. I've always leaned more towards the casual side of play and am currently broke as fuuuck so a couple extra days before paying for my next lot of playtime is deeply appreciated.
Suspending sales is quite a shocker. I wonder if it's a solidarity move "Look we'll try to get it stable, we wont sell any more copies till we get it working" or a genuine "There are still too many people jumping on board" type of thing. Maybe both. Suspending advertisements too is even more crazy to me.

Considering the high specification requirements for FFXIV servers, along with the fact that adding a single logical data center requires hundreds of servers,
can people now stop telling them to go buy "that dell server I googled" ?
Y'all have NO idea what they need and this is like telling someone in an F1 race car that there's lots of tires available at Walmart.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?

Right?
On the other hand, there was a bug in the lobby server and that one guy from reddit did help with that, so I was wrong there. But some of us can admit when we are wrong, and others just keep pushing with their misinformation.
And they've been trying since February apparently. That's not "they didn't do any planning at all"

I was just as astonished that random packet monitoring guy found something they didn't. Perhaps it's something the trench coders thought wasn't worth the attention it'd take to fix since it only was at (previously) unimaginable server loads so they never passed it up the pipeline.... or more likely whomever knew about that particular problem is long gone. Either way it shows a couple things: SE is paying attention to us (EN players), like it or not and while they're very much on top of mitigating problems as much as possible they can miss things.
I hope more useful information comes out of the discussion though, and less accusatory misinformed BS.

Yes, this exactly. I empathize with people who have had more severe problems than me and haven't really been able to play. That sucks. But if you're going to sit here and demonize the dev team and say they don't care and aren't doing anything, then I'm going to antagonize and push back on you. I hope this update is enough to silence all that sort of nonsense, but... somehow, I think they'll find a way to power through and keep it up.I was just as astonished that random packet monitoring guy found something they didn't. to be fair, I, and i do believe the same goes for a lot of people, would be a lot more open to "hey square, could you take a look at this ? some part of the hivemind found THIS problem and thinks you may have overlooked it" instead of "fuck you square, someone at reddit found out that you are cheating lying bastards that blame the players for your own shortcomings !!!!" which is basically how the thread mentioning the aforementioned problem started, continued on and ended.

Yeah, thats also true, and with all the trolls who've been posting on here for months, its hard to separate the info we should pay attention to and the people who are just messing with the rest of us.to be fair, i can only speak for myself but i do believe that the same goes for a lot of people and I at least would be a lot more open to "hey square, could you take a look at this ? some part of the hivemind found THIS problem and thinks you may have overlooked it" instead of "fuck you square, someone at reddit found out that you are cheating lying bastards that blame the players for your own shortcomings !!!!" which is basically how the thread mentioning the aforementioned problem started, continued on and ended.

Although the game login experience has been terrible, this has been a great expansion and I am glad that Square is keeping us informed and delivering a well deserved compensation.
Waiting is not a big issue, getting a 2002 error is, so I am glad they can address that.
A bug related to something from 1.0? We can never escape it, can we?
