It used to happen on Balmung not infrequently. But I'd never seen it happening on every server like this. Not just a percentage, but a percentage high enough that it is tripping congestion measures in place to prevent people from crashing instance servers. I have *never* seen personal housing get blocked off for congestion before. There are an unprecedented amount of people doing it.
First of all, the point of this thread is to highlight a potential problem - That there are players that are afk'ing in private places.
This is not a court that we have to provide definitive proof, and even in court, you can be sentenced by strong circumstantial evidence.
I have people in my FC defending third-party programs to avoid AFK'ing and someone in my friend-list staying inside his Barracks for hours and hours, but you want your ''definitive proof''.
That is why your question is utterly pointless.

That error is actually what happens when a situation described in an earlier notice occurs.
Housing areas are among the busiest zones around and multiple wards are running on the same server thread, unlike regular zones. To prevent Worlds from going down, we have adjusted the number of characters that are permitted to simultaneously move between areas, limited the amount of instantaneous network load, and made other adjustments to this end. This may increase the frequency of instances where you are unable to move due to congestion and will need to reattempt. These measures will be in place to prevent Worlds from going down and allow for stable gameplay. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation.
When a zone is actually full, the error message you receive is "Your destination is currently congested. Please try again later."
Not only this, but again, Occam's Razor.First of all, the point of this thread is to highlight a potential problem - That there are players that are afk'ing in private places.

Why are the housing instances clogged during non-peak hours? The simplest answer is usually the correct one.
I'd suspect more like giving zoning priority to ppl that go into houses less vs ppl zoning in new zones like Old Shar.
I don't craft in public, why would I want to let other people see what I'm crafting? Plus I spent a lot of time decorating, redecorating etc... It's a way of life. If anyone wants to AFK doge they can go to an inn or somewhere where nobody ever goes anymore and hide there. There are a lot of crafters now. I am willing to bet that they took away housing servers and repurposed them for other gameplay since housing isn't super important compared to other things right now.
Private residences are just the same as inns. Just as non-visible to people. Perfect place to go when you're gonna outright break ToS.I don't craft in public, why would I want to let other people see what I'm crafting? Why would you run the AFK avoidance script in your house? That's just as obvious as the people that go into busy status with it. Snitches from FC, friend lists, or LS can easily tell. Despite you saying people are fearful of doing it in the open, you're much better off doing it in a high-volume area where there are so many people around nobody will notice.
This was explained in Stormblood, memory is fuzzy. The inside of your house is an instance and it also uses some of the instance resources deployed in the game. Now I can't remember if it is tied to solo instance fights or just a general amount of resources. But just think how many MSQ instances are being used right now. It is also a sign of how good SE housing is, they can't even run all the houses they have. I question inn rooms though. You can leave your house, but get stuck in your inn room and it was not a zone full thing as FC people could move freely in and out of the zone. A lot of weird stuff floating around in this games design.
The thing is, I'm a bit 50/50 on this one. I personally haven't had any issue with entering or leaving my house but the thing is you spend so damn long in the queue that by the time you're finally in you're generally either pre occupied doing something else or its time to make/eat dinner. I'm sorry but after sitting in the queue that long almost unable to move in case you get a 2002 you're going to do whatever you can to prevent yourself from being logged out until you're ready to play.
I understand the frustration but you've gotta look at it from a realistic standpoint and realise that it is what it is. Doing it for excessive periods of time is another issue entirely but kick timer dodging imo is for the most part, completely justified right now.
