The very basic idea of parsimony is that, given two hypotheses to pursue, you should look at the one that makes the fewest assumptions. Not only do you not have multiple hypotheses attempting to explain the same thing, but you're definitely not going with the one that makes the fewest assumptions from among them. It doesn't have anything to do with "the simplest explanation" despite how many people keep saying it.

Agreed. To see why logically, just assume every assumption has some universal probability p, is independent from every other assumption. Whoever has the more assumptions are less likely to have all the assumptions fulfilled. In the real world Occam's Razor is only really useful when your prior belief about the probabilities of all those assumptions are largely equal.

It's been done before. Worked in Stormblood for the most populated servers when people were abusing AFK.
