After Goobbue mount - do we need other mounts than a choco?

I know its a bit late for this topic..

but after the goobbue mount being within the game since a month or so, im mostly using my chocobo again.

im asking myself does it destroy the typical FF feeling if everyone rides on an other mount - which are regular monsters? i mean is it like "catch them all" like in pokemon? first fight them, then ride them? O_o on a goobbue, on a dragon, on a flying eye (what i think reminds me a bit of pokemon if i imagine a picture of that situation)...

well i would just be happy with a chocobo.. i think a machine would be also ok, many ffs have been a bit steam punk like. but riding on a flying eye is a little ridiciulous, especially if you have people riding many different monsters side by side.


i loved the goobbue in ff11 because it seemed to me like a "special" monster. now its degraded to be a mount to ride on by hundreds of players. X.X :-( it just destroys the atmosphere of these monsters.

it has nothing to do with "wanting less" in the game... but is a gobbue monster anything special to you anymore? for me not.. because of that reason.


next mount i want to have is to ride on one of those garlean judges ;D

im stating MY point of view, to hear YOUR point of views and asking YOU...

and i give you my impression about monsters losing his epicness, because people want to ride on pokemons. well nobody knows how this will look like in the near future, if we do not have just ONE mount besides chocobo.. no when we have 10 other monsters to ride on.
and from time to time it want be ANYTHING special to ride on a goobbue it will be normal.

i'm imagining people riding in groups to the castle siege in 2.0. ... doesnt look very serious and epic to me. it will look like people riding on anime pokemons.


and if i think of epic final fantasy cutscenes i dont want to see people riding on a flying evil eye etc. in a big epic castle siege battle. this is not final fantasy epicness. its like any other MMO.

The reason I don't use goobbue mount is its too big and blocks out my view unless I go first person.

They should have shrunk the goobbues down to half the size IMO.

As I remember they did announce magitek mounts as well as biast and ahriman at some point (???).

If they're going to go the gobbue route with those as well, then I really won't care for them. I did get the gobbue cause of my "collector disease" though I never use it, and from what I can tell, very few on the server continued to use them past the 2 week hype. They seem to follow the event items pattern. . . .

I do like what they're doing with chocobos, getting them armour for starters, and possibly breeding/racing options or whatever in the future. That or something similar is what I hope they could do with any other mounts as well. Not just a pure cosmetic difference. For heaven's sake, I couldn't even name my gobbue Helga /cry
