Also, buying servers isn't as easy as many people thing it is. I mean, yeah, buy one or two is a simple thing, but buy 24 more servers isn't as easy as to ask for food delivery. That if they actually can buy them, knowing how corporations work, they probably can't, meaning they have to navigate between their own departaments to ask for more server. Corporation may have other needs and priorities, money needs to be checked as it goes in and out... There's a lot of internal information we don't know. What I do know is, the big population boom was in late june, that is 4-5 months ago. For a problem like this, that isn't time at all. Specially if they were working on the final stages of Endwalkers, which are normally the more problematic and most intense.
I mean, it's not about defending someone or not, but the "they should have bought more servers" may not be that easy. I don't know if they should've done something before or not, but the excuse of "we didn't had time" seems actually pretty logic. And since then they've been supportive, communicative and transparent, which isn't the normal thing to do, for that at least they have my thanks. Normally teams close themselves in a shell, post a generic message of "please be patient" and don't tell you why, where and how the problem is and how they are trying to solve it. At least they are talking to us like profesionals should talk to customers. There's a problem, the problem is this, and we are trying to do this and that to solve it. That's far more important than any 7 days or some skin or anything of the sort.

Let's assume my forum join date is my actual join date (which in case you didn't know doesn't necesarily have to be the same :gasp: :shockfaced: :stopthepress: ).

The WoW exodus started around July, and I "joined" in February, so your toxic jab at other players (who have all the right to play and have issues with the game as you do since they don't pay a lower sub or get any special treatment* just because they are WoW refugees) failed. So take that GCBTW mentality somewhere else, possibly a therapist to help you resolve your anger issues towards a videogame community.

Servers just had a maint not long ago for 30 mins and another maint due tomorrow as well as them adding dev servers for login queue's. 4004's should be going away hopefully huzzah and far fewer 2002s'

Why can't people understand that it takes time to figure out what is causing an issue? Then once you've identified it, it takes time to come up with the solution. Then it takes more time to see if the solution has completely resolved the issue or not.

So, you have to do something else for a while.

Play a different game. But then you're way behind on EW.

Play on a XIV server that's low pop (as I have), although with transfers locked that means you have to start over with ARR (unless you boost, which I really don't recommend because such a server is going to be on the less popular JP datacenters, where you'll want the ordinary MSQ development time to acclimate to Eastern gaming norms. They are not the same as NA norms, in particular the pace is quite a bit more sedate. Just did Copperbell normal on my JP lowbie and over there, for instance, they actually kill every mob, we do not do the leash reset skip there) and again you'll be way behind on EW. At least you'll probably get to be level 90 out of the gate for it though the way that leveling pace is now, seeing that an alt I started on Primal mid ShB (and did not get a server EXP boost on!) hit 80 before even finishing the 4.0 MSQ

The general thread here is, you're way behind on EW.

And that's where catcalls like GCBTW are going to come in. From a solo standpoint, this is mostly fine. If you only do story modes, you may not even notice much difference! But -

a, when you do get to EW, the content won't be considered "new" anymore. You'll routinely get thrown into DF with people that already want speedruns, and get an echo of the current treatment I've seen in threads (where people who are lucky with the Queues tell people who are persistently unlucky "it's fine, stop whining") as they get told "keep up, respect our time, stop whining" with a dash of "well you should have done it when it came out ..."

b, people will have stopped being able to contain their excitement and begun to gush spoilers everywhere like an oil spill, so no more story surprises for you unless you not only accept you've fallen behind, but also pretty much shut yourself off socially from your fellow gamers altogether for however long it takes. (Meanwhile, as someone who in the genre overall is what's called a "patient gamer" I can attest that when YOU get there and try gushing over it, you'll be told ... "Yeah, we know, nobody cares anymore" and basically considered an annoyance for resurrecting done discussions.)

c, when you get to endgame content, you'll have missed out on the initial tolerant PF learning rush for a while, meaning you will be stuck in the hell of groups that couldn't hack it while the people that can, sit within their ivory walls of Duty Complete. Should you form own groups and try to be a "good" person, you'll have P1 down to the point that you get tetris effect dreams in your sleep (seriously, I have had PUG progress crawls so bad at times that I literally closed my eyes to sleep and saw waymarks), yet still not be able to improve your situation reliably, unless you resort to the rather gauche-feeling behavior that is "clear for one."
