The classic defense of the passive aggressive troll is to go right for intellect, thinking themselves smarter.

Commonly known thing in psychology anyone that has a tendency to try act intellectually superior, I.e "bragging about their supposed massive intelligence" is usually the opposite and feels the need to constantly compensate by trying to tell everyone "just how much smarter they are than them"

It's basically the same thing as small other things, compensatory behaviour by bragging.

So by all means, continue, tell me just how massive your brain apparently is and just how superior your intellect is.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand FFXIV. The lore is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of aetherial physics most of the jokes will go over a typical player's head.
