    I couldn't care less about if it's free or not. I paid for the collector's pre-order. How am I exactly getting any benefits if I am unable to log in to claim said bonuses? The issue is SE has always had this issue with expansion releases. Even back on 11. They know this always happens, yet have never learned from them to take steps ahead of time to make sure there will not be a problem such as you know. Buying new servers before hand to make sure all can enjoy what they have paid for. I don't mind waiting to get in but when I cannot even log into the data center to get into the queue at all? Unacceptable.

    SE is not obligated to reimburse you. You people signed, "agree" on a legally binding contract that specifically puts SE on the clear if things like this happen, that's why they have a "interruptions of service" clause on that contract. So, since they don't owe you crap, the 7 days are by definition, a gift of good will, not a reimbursement.

    Whether game time is free or paid for one can debate perspective. What I'm struggling with is what good are the 7 days if I can't get in the game to play anyway. I can't find the article. Was there mention of what Square Enix is doing to fix the issue other than game time?

    I tried to read this thread all the way but too many are missing the point

    I don't know the OP so this is from another third party, and I agree with him and I believe he/she (not sure which, sorry ) is correct.

    Let's explain his point this way..............

    - You rent out a summer home for two weeks.
    - You send them the money for the two weeks.
    - You get contacted by them and they say that something came up and you can't access the Summer home for the first week you paid for. (Doing this for easy math and as a way to better explain)
    - They then tell you that you can have an "extra" week to compensate you for the week you missed.

    So when you later "check" the time you have been given access to the summer home it's still only "Two weeks" not "Three weeks", make sense?

    If it was an extra week plus what you paid for it would be three weeks (Two weeks you paid for "plus" an "extra week") but tacking on an extra week on at the end of a missed week isn't giving you anything you've not already paid for.

    You paid for two weeks, you get two weeks, but you're majorly inconvenienced for one of those weeks, so to make you feel better for their screw up they "say" you get a free week, but they aren't out anything because they are just giving you want you paid for, nothing more and nothing less.

    Is that any clearer?

    And if you're on automatic debt, how does that work? You're already charged monthly, so an extra week doesn't do anything for you................

    Personally since it launched Friday I've played once Friday during lunch at work for 20 minutes, and then last night (Sunday) for 2 hrs after trying for 4 hours to get connected.

    All the other days I just gave up after 3 hours plus of trying to get connected, especially after getting down to "triple digits" from queues of 5,000+, then getting kicked, and then being returned to the end of a 4-5,000+ queue

    For me, that's it, 2 1/2 hours of play time after trying to get connected for 4 days.

    So I'm certainly not getting "my" money's worth, and an extra week on a monthly sub again helps me how?

    The whole idea is since you aren't able to easily get in, or possibly aren't able to get in at all, they are compensating you for those lost days. That's why they've said that they may be giving even more time if the situation doesn't improve. If everyone could get in without issue, they wouldn't be giving any gametime at all.

    If you pay 15 for 1 month of game time. You already paid for.

    The company has an issue that prevents play on the 30 days you already paid for and gives you 7 days on top of the 30 days.

    Of those extra days you continually are not able to play the game.

    It is not free time.

    You are still not able to play the game wasting the 7 FREE days they gave us.

    Ultimately, It should be time paid for returned until its fixed and 7 days on top of that.

    Contracts are tested in a court and before that happened any contract is just a wall of text… And to add to that a contract need to be signed, an ”accept button” is not legally binding.

    Some of you people need to read up on law and legislation.
    and some need to understand that the terms of service and the software license agreements are generally written by lawyers these days with "you people" in mind, as well as these kinds of issues.

    I imagine many of these contracts HAVE been tested in court by people like you, and they have likely held up, or they would be changed to cover what didnt hold up.

    they gave 7 days as a customer service, which is more than they had to do I imagine, but they are trying to do right by the players. unfortunately, some people wont be happy...ever.

    I agree you are getting what you paid for. Whether or not you want to think of it as "free" is up to you, the point is you're getting time added to your subscription and you aren't paying anything extra for it. It is compensation for lost time on the subscription you paid for. They don't have to give it to you, but they are. Now, if they didn't, I think people would be right to be upset about that.

    The metaphor breaks down when you get to this major inconvenience. Yes, if I take a week off work to go on vacation I probably can't just easily change the time off to another week. This is pretty different. You probably didn't take a week off work. I took 2 days off work, and as a result, both Friday and today I was able to play all day with no issues (Saturday and Sunday too.. minus the fact that I had to break in the middle of the day sunday and had a 2 hour queue that evening when I came back, but that had nothing to do with taking off work). If you took off work, you should have had no issues at all getting logged in, unless you were unwilling to wake up at a moderately early time... and I'm not talking 5 AM, I'm talking 10 AM. In what way was anyone MAJORLY inconvenienced?

    Imagine you are normally charged on the 1st of the month. You will be charged 7 days later, on the 8th.


    I get being unhappy about it. The "free"-ness of the added time is largely semantics. But adding additional time at no additional charge is adequate in the event that they are unable to alleviate the issue via server upgrades, which is unfortunately the case.
