The real problem isn't the queues. If everyone here got in a queue that did eventually let them in, then that would just be a matter of dealing with impatient players. So the lobby server errors and from login caps is what's preventing people from playing at all during peak hours. This is the problem that needs to be addressed somehow because people who manage to get into a queue and get kicked out because of the lobby 2002 error is just beyond frustrating. That's not a matter of people being impatient, its a matter of people just not being able to play.

I for one took time off this week in anticipation of this and it's true that unless you start playing earlier in the day then you won't be playing come afternoon and early evening. It's just not going to happen. I for one appreciate the extra game time, but I want to see this obvious issue addressed and the dev team doing something to at least fix the lobby errors. New servers - even if they could get some - won't be a quick fix, so the prospect of continued high queue times during peak hours every week night with 2002 errors eventually kicking you out literally means you only be able to play if you login very early on a weekend. That can't become an ongoing trend because once you're in the game it's amazing and everyone wanting to play should be able to. Sure we may have to wait in line, but we need to stop getting kicked out of that line from these lobby 2002 errors.

here I'm just guessing but I think most of the people complaining do this on a regular basis on twitter (because only on twitter I've seen this kind of anger for something trivial as a game).
I get that. I also believe that Square Enix should have expanded servers but it's kinda a delicate line to walk. You don't want to expand too fast and have huge amounts of dead servers later on and the community yelling all the time to "for God's sake, merge the servers" (looking at you WoW). On the other hand you don't want to have what's happening now. They tried to walk a fine line and they messed up. They did. But mistakes happen and it's so hard to correct in the current climate

Shadowbringers release, 42k concurrent on steam. Growth is there but less than 2x the growth since Stormblood based on concurrent players on steam. By all reports growth per expansion release is slowing. Concurrent playerbase settles into a stable pattern of slightly more than it was post Stormblood. Spiking in periods where there's a free login month or a patch content.

July 2021 comes around, playerbase jumps to record levels without any expansion release. There is no precedent for this, they had no data to indicate this would happen. EW Early Access comes around and the playerbase spikes 2.3times the SHB playerbase, once again nothing in the data suggests this was going to happen.

Luckybancho shows similar growth post July 2021. Once again abnormally high growth in this period.

There is no data to back up any of which you have hypothesised.

No, it's just you being dead wrong.
So you're saying 5 months ago, mid expansion, they experienced a massive spike in user activity...but they had no idea it would spike even more on the release of an actual expansion? Really? They would have to be very terrible analysts to not see that coming.

No I'm saying that they didn't have "years of data" pointing to this current tremendous spike. They had what ... half a year?

And then you get into the discussion of how hard it would be to procure servers in that half a year and I have no clue about that, sorry

You just proved me right. And yet again ignored my point I made about excluding the 2021 spike in numbers. You can't say someone is wrong while proving them right, especially when you post the numbers that prove them right.

I mean it couldn't possibly be that market prediction is something that's easily understood and that looking at numbers across several years can easily show a trend. It's not like entire career fields are based around this very thing. But naaaaah, it's just people that "want to complain"......

They was fully aware of the situation and was still selling copie of the game and accepting subsicription way above their server capacity it's like selling 200k ticket for a show when the venue can only contain 100k they shold have limited the number of copie/active subscriber knowing the shortage situation.

You understand that they literally cannot just "upgrade the capacity" when there is no way for them to upgrade the servers right? If it was doable Yoshi would have made a official statement about it like he did with the semi-conductor shortage, there was literally nothing they could have done.

Fair enough. My humble opinion is that they decided it would be easier and less costly to just deal with the blowback from the first couple weeks of release rather than to add capacity. Its a cost/benefit decision for sure and this is what they went with.

I fully understand that. I also fully understand that any outfit of this size does in fact have access to necessary hardware, both in-house and outside
