MNK never had a oGCD problem in Shadowbringers, like positionals there is no reason to take away oGCD UNLESS dev team had no time to finish off or got lazy on it.

All skills we got was previously here beside Rising Phoenix and PR !
( not including buff or aoe skills )( Celestial Revolution was an ancient pvp skill too )
oGCD was available for free before putting "price" on it without any compensation ! <= that's key.

That's my biggest issue alongside with positionals removal, if we really look into, it seem that dev team was in a rush and had to make this up quickly in a way that works.
What they have done is not a remade or whatever, it is the same thing they have done in Stormblood with new gauge and stuff like that, nothing barely new.

I'm in love with Thunderclap !

The issue is still that nobody at SE actually gives a damn about the job. Literally just throwing fancy animations (and animations we lost from previous expansions) at the job to placate an increasingly small group of players who have been screaming for the better part of a decade for anything more than the rotted scraps we've been getting fastball'd at us. Not once have they actually addressed the concerns of people who actually play this job to any degree of competency, instead listening to people who literally refused to even try it because, at one point, it had two more buttons with positional requirements than other melee jobs.

Expect nothing from SE about Monks, until they actually show their work. Whatever the heck Endwalker Monk is supposed to be, this ain't it.

I'm glad but also disappointed that my feelings aren't alone in that the class had not received the work it deserved.

The 1.5 gcd would make me so thrilled, but then you just have a class that attacks even faster but serves no purpose. Honestly even if positional were returned I doubt the class would still be fun because that doesn't defeat the lack-luster mechanics of the class anymore. Blitz should have a more fulfilling purpose than to just reward Perfect Balance with a big hit.

There were some ingenious recommendations for the class to overhaul the chakra system back before the job actions were revealed. Honestly since Square Enix clearly has Monk even below Blue Mage on their priority list I think they should seriously consider just looking through the recommendations from the people who actually play the class.

It's especially annoying because a trait gets wasted on it, lvl 84 could've been way more interesting ( maybe something to replace Elixir Field or a new ogcd? ).

I love Thunderclap it feels great to use, it just feels pointless that it has charges.
Two is enough already but even just for the sake of fun and also to make MNK feel more mobile it might as well just be an ability with no cd and lvl 84 could've gotten something more interesting.
I love the thunderclap ability, and totally agree that it shouldn't be barred behind charges. It makes me feel more like my fav anime characters, like Goku, or Ichigo and many others.

It's really a love hate relationship now with Monk, there are changes that i think are good and some not so good. I just ran a lv 50 dungeon, and i must say i'm utterly pissed at how deceiving SE is and the lack of creativity put into it. For one, Steel Peak is LITERALLY Shoulder tackle animation, it has NOTHING to do with the Image in the Icon. FFS it is SUCH A LET DOWN when you use it, even my BS has a better visual. You'd think that upon getting 5 stacks of Chakra you'd get to use an awesome ability, nope~ you literally don't see it, it's like WTF did i just do? At least Howling Fist has a more satisfying feel to it when you use it.

there really is more changes that i dislike than the changes that I do like. hopefully they are reading and listening to our feedback and make changes as we go. otherwise there's gonna be another rework again... sigh..

Plentiful Harvest on Reaper gives 50 Shroud Gauge so you can Enshroud during your burst phase every 120s.

Why doesn't Brotherhood at least do this for MNK with Perfect Balance?
    Make it reset Perfect Balance.

So they shouldn't have removed them because YOU, only you, are still doing them.

I am so happy they are gone, for multiple reasons now.

No. What I am saying is the changes to PB and adding Blitz doesn't impact the job enough to warrant the removal of these requirements.

What has impacted MNKs flow is placing their oGCD skills on the GCD, and changing the CD durations on RoF, Brotherhood, and Perfect Balance. These are the changes that are making MNK feel totally different, and I find the arguments over whether to bring back the positional requirements or to stay rid of them to be entirely redundant right now. They need to get this job back on the tracks before we can really start discussing that.

They took oGCDs away because they didn't want to fix Chakra overcap I guess. So, instead of drifting TK and EF outside of burst windows they instead opted to force them onto the GCD for Blitzes. I don't know how I really feel about the loss of positionals, on one hand I liked optimizing my TN/RoE usages throughout a fight to maximise them, but at the same time the even minute burst windows with double PB back to back would require a lot more flank > rear movement due to the inconsistencies in which we enter the burst window. For reference, most jobs usually enter there bursts at set GCDs throughout their rotation making it easy to predict. EW MNK however isn't entirely like that, there are 2 scenarios for our one minute burst RoF, and 2 for our even minute burst windows; all of which can change if there is any amount of downtime. Of course, there are some general 'rules' to follow to make it easier, but it requires foresight into when RoF is coming off of CD in relation to which form you will be in. Dare I say I'm actually enjoying this iteration of MNK too, though I wish they addressed the real concerns that we've been spouting over the last 4.5 years - chakra cap increase, and make Anatman useful. I enjoy 6SS for what it is, purely disengage tool, it's niche but it has uses in fights that don't have full uptime or phase transitions.

My post in the positionals thread was quite dismayed, but I'm...not disliking it so far. Currently lv86, not that it gets anything truly new from 81-90. I mained it in ARR, and it's been a close secondary since until now where I decided to go back to it because MCH was too easy for my tastes.

It might just admittedly be obfuscation from the changes betraying 8 years of habit, but I'm finding them distracting enough to not really be concerned about positionals atm. Not that I don't keep running to the rear for Bootshine because gosh undoing 8 years of muscle memory is impossible. In a dummy / full uptime situation it's probably more straightforward than it's ever been, but since that's rarely the case in actual fights, it's been quite intense having to make quick decisions about where to realign everything or restart my combos with so many free stance gcds, it's a bit overwhelming in the heat of combat sometimes, maybe it's just me. I suppose it doesn't help that the buff icon for Twin Snakes is completely different making me blindly drop it sometimes too because I don't scan that distinct pinkish look on my buffs. It does feel horrible when something becomes untargetable just as you execute a Blitz though and don't get the Nadi.

I dunno, I think it's alright. So far. Not amazing, but I'm not like...immediately repulsed either. The blitzes do feel really weighty when used, especially TK. I'm not too bothered about the loss of OGCDs, pressing EF/TK like once, maybe twice, outside of buff windows isn't exactly a big loss to me, outside of trash aoe in the case EF anyway. Although Riddle of Wind could be repurposed into something more impactful feeling; maybe activating an ogcd continuation-like combo every 90s only you can weave whenever you want and it expires after 3 uses. And Shoulder Tackle being tied to damage was just irritating as hell personally, good riddance. I'll have to wait until max level and the new rotations / reallignment priority becomes second nature before really knowing how I feel though, as I said the changes are blindsiding me too much to have time to think about what the positionals were..those PB charges go by quicker than I'd think. I don't think it's boring at least.

Imo i pretty much guarantee it´s just a matter of "how to get used too".

We´ve to learn a new rotation and that´s it, we´ve to get used to new bosses too. In the end we´re going to play the rotation pretty much flawless even if we´ve to leave the boss for some seconds. But stuff like that has always been a thing.
Blitz isn´t really something like "you can choose what you want". Of course you can, but you don´t want to do it. You still want to get as much buffed Bootshines as possible, which means you´ll always go for DK + BS in any Lunar or TK PB. So far it´s just a mindtrick to let the player feeling like "you´ve a choice". In fact, you don´t really have one.

In dungeons it doesn´t even matter. They´re still braindead as before and since the length of any fight on addpulls depends on the tank / 2. dd too, you´ll never know with which cooldowns you arrive at any boss.
