yeah it will last 2 weeks with up to a month tops. it might as you said go away after the weekend, though I think this is pushing it a bit. once the players who rush the story and don't do anything else are done it will pretty much die down to maybe a bit above normal capacity but it should't be too bad

It should die down quicker than most expect. It is the holidays and people cannot get much time off during such a busy time of the year. Come Monday and I personally do expect much smaller queues across the board.
