Wow, even the trolls from the world of warcraft forums have made it here. Demanding a refund for early access? That's pretty laughable.

If you're going to have this extreme whinge about getting "the product" instead of being understanding, then you really aught to read the Terms of Service before purchasing. You think they don't cover technical and maintenance downtime there? This is your own fault
Even so the very gracious support team will very often provide you a refund if you file a cancel and refund request
Tell you what though if you really need the 33 cents I will venmo it to you
BY THE WAY, you could have used a free trial account to get the game installed and running before you pay if it is so terribly important to you

As mentioned above, it is not breech of contract as the contract includes such eventualities in the ToS

Lets face it, it literally cost em 0 to add a week of free playtime to an Expension... they should've done it...
The incredible part is that this hasn't happened before with FFXIV. The HW and SB and even ShB launches were very smooth. I've been playing since 2.2 (and in 1.0) and have never seen anything like this before. It's a set of really unfortunate circumstances. The only good news here is that the game is tremendously popular - unless people who hate it are logging in just to hate it. I don't know at this point!
How can Square-Enix (or any other company, or person) buy more servers when there are just no chips available to make the machines in the quantities needed? It's not a matter of just adding 3 machines here, or 10 there. When you add capacity to a data centre at this level, you lease a whole floor at once, a massive number of racks. If you can't fill those racks with machines, then leasing empty space is a cost few accountants or CFOs would be happy to approve.
so what I'm hearing is that you want a refund or speak to the manager? hmmm
This is almost exactly what happened during the ARR launch, funny enough. The incredible part is that this hasn't happened before with FFXIV. The HW and SB and even ShB launches were very smooth. Still, you can't treat the problem with more hardware. Especially temporary floods of activity. There's a reason MMOs usually have troubled launches.
It'll fade within a few days, my only real regret is until then I have to hear all the WoW refugees threatening to punch holes in walls or throw an outright tantrum over 60 cents of subscription fees.
Ive been playing WoW since 2013 and while there has been issues on launch days Ive NEVER NEVER seen anything like this where you cant play at all. IM PAYING TO PLAY THE GAME!!!! I expected long ques but this is complete incompetence. I get in a 4000+ que then the game errors out. Ques I can take. Not being able to get on at all is inexcusable!!!!!!
I BET you the ones who are taking up for Square in this garbage launch are the people who actually got to play. I havent been able to play AT ALL. By the time I was able to get on last night it was late and I was tired and went to bed.
Its very simple...you sell a service and then arent able to provide the service you refund your customer. That is simple common courtesy. And I have read the ToS and NO WHERE does it say I agree to being without service for extended periods of time with no communication on when I can get back on and still pay for nothing.
