Except for things like Fire = single target, Fire 2 = AoE, then you get 3 and 4 that go back to single target. And they all have their own purpose rather than straight upgrades.I like the numbers because in the future you will get "Holy over 9000".
Seriously, i don't really care whether it is a number or a suffix. Numbers have an advantage because you only need to look at the number and you know instantly which spell is the stronger one. When you see a suffix like "ga" then this is not clear and you have to look at the details of the spell. Numbers are more intuitive, IMHO.
Cheers
The part that still confuses me the most about it is that there was a concerted effort to correct all re-releases of the games in the series that had previously changed them due to console limitations. At the time of FFXIV 2.0's release, the only game not to have the suffixes either originally or via re-release in English was VII because it didn't have any sort of remake yet. Like I basically figure there's someone at the NA offices in charge of maintaining the consistency, and I don't know how FFXIV got away with the numbers.
This is the exact reason everyone hates them. Bunch of people seeing "Fire II" and thinking it must be better than Fire because it has a number on the end, when they serve completely different functions. Well that and the fact that it's completely un-Final Fantasy.Seriouly, i don't really care whether it is a number or a suffix. Numbers have an advantage because you only need to look at the number and you know instantly which spell is the stronger one. When you see a suffix like "ga" then this is not clear and you have to look at the details of the spell. Numbers are more intuitive, IMHO.
I don't need 2 seperate keybinds for Summon Seraph + Consolation anymore, wonderful !
I don't have a preference myself, but this reason you mentioned seems to be what causes people to often fall into the 'Cure III on a single target' trap, but i cannot blame them for that misunderstanding.
Woah! Thank god they doubled Raging Strikes' cooldown on BRD! Wouldn't want them to have too much fun!
Hrm. Blizzard 2 is finally getting a use/purpose separate from Freeze. That'll take some hotbar adjusting. Like most I had already deleted B2 basically... now I gotta find somewhere for Freeze instead. I know we're losing one button from Eno, but, Freeze isn't quite the same as a set-and-forget button... Might take some shuffling. Buu.
Other than that, I think I like the sound of BLM changes. Huzzah for a timer increase.
This lets it line up with raid buffs easier, a net buff in the end assuming optimal usage, as for the 60 second media tour version it might have been too powerful? no clue
The other bard changes are amazing imo, 3 charges on bloodletter/rain of death, shadowbite changing up the aoe rotation a bit, and finally bards are no longer deaf and get buffed by their songs
The potencies and scaling all work differently. You shouldn't be sure of a nerf until you actually play it. Whispering Dawn has been overpowered at lower levels compared to higher levels so with the stat squish it might have been overpowered all of the time.
