This is a video game, everyone starts from square one.
This isn't irl where people are born into billionaire families...

Edit: Also as someone who is essentially perpetually poor because I am very wasteful and don't make any effort to grind for gil.
It's not unrealistic at all to have 100 mil or even more without botting/ cheating etc.

If you're just actively playing it adds up a lot, even moreso if you actually do professions and sell a lot of stuff.
