Rofl, I have north of 150 mil on an account I've been playing since beta ended and that's actually way below what I could have, and all done legitimately.

The only reason I'm not capped on gil is because I take long breaks and when I am playing I spend maybe 1/3rd of my time trying to earn gil. It's not very hard to do it legit.

As for his accusation that people with gil must be exploiting... I actually spent the entire first and second wave of WOW refugees crafting people free gear and posting gear on the market board marked down 25% to 50%.

I don't just craft to make money, I craft to give new players a fantastic experience so that they're encouraged to keep playing. I want them to have nice gear for cheap and use their gil on things that matter, like hairstyles, emotes, mounts, and minions.

    Absolutely not true.

If you remove gil sinks the people will just amass more gil as they sit on it - gil is basically useless if you've bought a house and don't feel compelled to constantly buy cosmetic fluff.

So that's not how inflation works. The prices -in game- are static, nothing the players do can affect the cost of things being sold in the world.

The market board is player driven economy - where your supply and demand comes into it - if you let players amass gil without gold sinks the prices of things will rise until the market can't/won't sustain it anymore. You could make an argument for limiting market prices *but* that would destroy the economy and make gil completely worthless.

The game continually showers you in gil - every activity, quest, roulette - you can literally get 20k from the Doman Enclave for just showing up. If you remove gil sinks - and don't encourage players to spend - the economy will go through a constant cycle of boom and bust... disengaging people from crafting and producing.

It’s with a keen understanding of economics that I gained my 100s of millions. Especially when new things drop, you can make a fortune off of those who can’t wait to have the newest thing (typically fashion related).

Stack what with aggressive market board sales, and you can easily make bank.

Here's the thing: everyone who has more than 100 million gil in this game are either botting/cheating or exploiting everyone else in the economy, just like in real life. But in real life we can actually tax those people, and transfer it to programs that aid the poor, like Social Security. We don't do that in FF14, because it is modeled after a laissez-faire system. So what happens when gil becomes harder and harder to get and things get harder and harder to buy? New players and people not interested in botting and exploiting everyone else in the economy just cannot do anything that requires gil, like buying mansions. Also, the rich players in this game will tell you how they got rich easily without a lot of effort. That is a total lie: they are either players from ARR or Heavensward that inherited a lot of wealth back then and coasted on the gil inflation, or they bot/exploit other players (such as undercutting on the market board every minute). What we need is not a gil sink. It's a gil transfer system. No one likes having their gil taken away, so we need incentives for rich players to give their gil to new players. For example, giving 1M gil to a sprout that is above Lv20 would give them an extra step in a relic or something. We also need to have more gil fountains for poor players. Roulette rewards should be doubled or even tripled for sprouts. This game does not have a gil inflation issue. This game has an inequality issue.
I actually agree on this. I wanted a house. Everyone kept saying how easy it was to get gil if I leveled crafting.
Leveling crafting took time, patience, and a lot of the gil I had from the MSQ to where I was down to 0.
Finally though I max'd them all to 80 along with DoL (except fishing but whatever.)

..I now have 3 million, that 3 million took an entire year. It is NOT as easy as people say it is. Yeah you can make a couple hundred with roulettes and dailies to be able to afford gear or maybe 1 expensive glam item.

But a mansion? I'll say it's never gonna happen for me, the small cottage I got is about all I'll ever afford at this rate. And yes, I'm crafting and doing extremes for feathers and whatnot. Still not easy.

And before you say it. I have 5 retainers, and I nolife the game only time I'm not playing is when sleeping/eating/bathroom.
    STILL. Not. Easy.

I make around 200k a day just doing my rouletts to level lol. Healer/tank bonus nearly 10k each +dungeon gil

Plus i just dont consinder half the market board worth spending gil on consindering one month of work I could obtain it myself for most part. Only things kind of worth it is a Jacket. Plus Im not lazy so I wont ever spend on materials.

Yeah, been in Mateus well before the rpers moved in. Eureka and PotD mounts sold for 20m-40m, and crafted gear for a 1-2m a piece and rarely declined. Sooo yeah, there are certainly folks that still have tons of gil, a few gil sink mounts isnt going to do much when when there are pools with nearly trillions saved up.

    No, dude.

Statements like this are some kind of knee jerk reaction to something you're perceiving as a "unfixable" situation.

As for the game not needing more gil sinks, I heartily disagree. There are gil faucets all over the place, the game could definitely use more places to meaningfully spend that gil. Decent apartment size upgrades could be an idea. Even unlocking portions of an island sanctuary seems like a plausible idea.

The game could use for a MUCH better illegally obtained gil monitoring system, and much more reactive timing in fixing exploits, and hammering down on bot farm trains and market board botting. Yes it is frustrating dealing with all that. But that is online gaming in general, and no excuse to accuse some one with 100 gillion of being a better or extortioner. Get real guy.

I honestly thing that there should be more Gil sinks, I'm by no means a rich player by the standards of FF14, I sit just at around 20Mil, but that money is literally useless to me, I have all classes at 80 and geared, All gatherers at 80 Penta melded, All crafters at 80 Penta melded.

But what should I use the money for ? Glams ? I have all of the ones I like already, either self crafter or brought. Housing ? Just because I haves some Gil stored up, does not mean I will pay some mofo his 10-50Mil asking price for a house. Waste it on a mount I dont even like ?

Maybe, since I have all the classes at 80, lemme straight up buy poetics so I do NOT have to farm the same dungeons I farm for 8 years to get some glams, when I done them on some classes already. Like, you have a Lux weapon already ? here, you can literally buy the mats for other classes! Just for the love of god, stop making me run the same face roll dungeons over and over and over again.
