We don't need anymore gil sinks

Square Enix does not understand economics. Supply and demand are all well and good, but they are not looking at inequality. Adding gil sinks like more housing and removing gil from activities like levequests are only going to hurt consumers. Here's the thing: everyone who has more than 100 million gil in this game are either botting/cheating or exploiting everyone else in the economy, just like in real life. But in real life we can actually tax those people, and transfer it to programs that aid the poor, like Social Security. We don't do that in FF14, because it is modeled after a laissez-faire system. So what happens when gil becomes harder and harder to get and things get harder and harder to buy? New players and people not interested in botting and exploiting everyone else in the economy just cannot do anything that requires gil, like buying mansions. Also, the rich players in this game will tell you how they got rich easily without a lot of effort. That is a total lie: they are either players from ARR or Heavensward that inherited a lot of wealth back then and coasted on the gil inflation, or they bot/exploit other players (such as undercutting on the market board every minute). What we need is not a gil sink. It's a gil transfer system. No one likes having their gil taken away, so we need incentives for rich players to give their gil to new players. For example, giving 1M gil to a sprout that is above Lv20 would give them an extra step in a relic or something. We also need to have more gil fountains for poor players. Roulette rewards should be doubled or even tripled for sprouts. This game does not have a gil inflation issue. This game has an inequality issue.

This is a video game, everyone starts from square one.
This isn't irl where people are born into billionaire families...

Edit: Also as someone who is essentially perpetually poor because I am very wasteful and don't make any effort to grind for gil.
It's not unrealistic at all to have 100 mil or even more without botting/ cheating etc.

If you're just actively playing it adds up a lot, even moreso if you actually do professions and sell a lot of stuff.

Except that's not true because people who started playing in ARR/Heavensward benefitted from playing early, as they have much more time to amass wealth. And you know what they say, you use money to make money. So it becomes a snowball and they make more and more money with the money they have. People who start later just can't catch up.

Lmao, i have several hundreds of millions and i will tell you how so i can show you how easy it is in this game to have gils.
    Retainers quick exploration.
I do pay up to 20 euros per month for all my alts and retainers, which is a lot of retainers but you dont need that much to makes millions anyway it's overkill in my case ( you dont need to have tons of retainers that's only me since i need a lot of space )
Quick exploration is just rng based, you get something after 1 hours of waiting from your retainer, it can be a lot of things like housing items, gear from 25-30 ilvl to 490 rn and the expensive stuff : Minions / glams / dyes.
Even if i only use the ones on my main, so 9 retainers total, i got something like 5-10 M a week depending on how good the items i do get are, and the most sellers are obviously pure white / black jet dyes which is around 400k/u on my servor, with 1 retainers i can get 800 k gils doing nothing, and it happens pretty often not gonna lie.
Ppl in this game will always do glam and needs dyes anyway this market will never collapse.

    0 farming 0 crafting 0 botting 0 cheat.

All my gils are legit and i'm not camping the marketboard and more importantly i'm not wasting my time making gils, it comes to me while i do something else.

It's baffling me that retainers are never mentionned about how make easy gils, it's free and everyone can do it and it's rng based you cant tank a market with it.

When a new expansion is released everyone starts from square one again because all of the stuff that sells for a lot on the market is new and you get it from doing content, and I don't think that people have benefitted as much as you think that they have.

And yes obviously if you've played since ARR/ Heavensward and you've hoarded gil ever since you're going to have more than someone who started playing in Shadowbringers.
    That's how it should be.

You can play the market by going to other worlds and buying stuff cheaper then selling it at home but normally the difference is not that big at all you don't actually make a whole lot back even in the best case scenario.
And you can still do that even with fairly limited amounts of gil if you cba.

I dunno what you even mean with catch up, I've played since ARR and I currently have like 200k gil.
The gil I had back in ARR and Heavensward is totally irrelevant nowadays.
If I spend a couple of mil gil on crafted gear and pentamelding it then it won't matter in the next expansion it has no effect.

well, thats false right there, since I started long after that... its how you spend it, if you spend it on all the latest shinies, yeah, starting late will mean you are broke. If you hardly spend on stupidly expensive things.. easy to have over 100 million, even easier if you craft smartly

I have to stop right there—how you come to this conclusion literally killed 2% of my brain cells. This is a bait, isn’t it?
