He's dead. In order to kill an ascian you need to destroy or consume their soul. Thordan destroyed the body he was in and them consumed his soul. The only reason we use auracite is to hold the soul in place while we charge the aether needed to destroy it. He's not sleeping in the Eye, he's just dead, he died just like the Sahagin priest in 2.3 I believe.

actually I have heard that Ishikawa said Lahabrea was still inside the Eye until Estinen stabbed it.

Um..can you possibly give us the source of your information? While I'm not against the information you provided us, many might doubt that. It is logical to assume that Lahebrea was inside the eye since that was what Thordan has used to neutralize him but there was no hint in-game of his presence being still present in the eye since its use for summoning Shinryu

Maybe there's something more recent? But this is the only one I saw:
Toward the end of Shadowbringers, players defeat Hades without imprisoning him in the White Auracite. But Lahabrea was defeated in a similar way, and eventually returned. Is Hades is done for good?

NI: With Lahabrea, he wasn’t literally put into the White Auracite. But he was absorbed into the dragon’s eye, and Estinien pierced it. Although he wasn’t imprisoned in the White Auracite, you can technically say he’s in the same situation.

When Hades revealed his true form, and his soul was there, we didn’t capture it in the White Auracite. He was held down and pierced with a stake, basically. He was captured and not able to move at that point, and then the Warrior of Light struck him with the blow, so it is believed that Hades has been completely destroyed.

Managed to track it down: https://www.pcgamesn.com/final-fanta...ringers-ending

Incidentally, she compares what happened to Lahabrea to what happened with Hades and Hades showed up again in 5.3 so....

Saying "he was inside the eye when Estinien pierced it" is a very liberal take on what she actually said which is that he was absorbed by the Eye and that the Eye was destroyed.

Just throwing in a random idea here, but Lahabrea's involvement could be a reference to FF2.

To wit, Lahabrea's sigil is that of Mateus, the Corrupt, an Esper from FF12, albeit upside-down. This Esper in itself is actually a homage to the main bad guy of FF2, the Emperor, and is even named after him.

My theory is that Lahabrea, whether it be the orignal or some shard, or perhaps even one of his minions, will have retreated into this Pandaemonium and taken over it, becoming it's 'emperor' as it were. Perhaps for revenge against the warrior of light, luring them in to try and trap them there forever, or perhaps in one last ditch effort tries to spread chaos over the source again. Either way, I'm guessing he will be the last boss of the raid.

(If I don't hear any FF2 music in the raid i will be sad X'D)

Me too! II doesn't get enough love. It's one of my favorites. And it would be really cool if they did a Dawn of Souls homage and we had to spit the raid to kill the Light/Dark half at the same time.

This is interesting! Thank you for the link.

What she is describing with the Eye is definitely a retcon. The death of Lahabrea has been referred to by both Emet-Selch and Elidibus in light of the permanent and irreversible death of Nabriales. If he was merely trapped in an auracite (or in this case, the Eye) they would not have said the various things they said about his demise, or spoke of him with such finality and regret.

This makes me think a pretty crazy idea. This actually explains some things I had been wondering about...

They said the only reason the sahagin priest died was because his soul wasn't stronger then the will of Leviathan.

I had a head cannon about Laha still being alive before Endwalker was announced and after seeing Pandemonium its really making me flesh it out.

I dont have the time to type it all out atm but, my thought was that Laha didn't die to Thordin an was stuck in the eye threw everything until Shinyru and Zenos. Where when Zenos took over Shinyru he rode coat-tail on Zeno's soul all the wall back to his body all be it to weak to take control. It also makes me think that Laha being inside Shinyru is what gave Zenos the power to overtake it fully.. because I really do find it had to believe someone who has a fake echo for a week or so maybe?(ingame time is weird) could fully control a Primal of hundreds of people's will and hate towards a person of the race they hate.

I'm assuming us beating Zenos in EW will release Laha and open the way to the new raid.. but who knows!
