My last mmo revolved solely around PvP, I was in a hardcore pvp guild, I could spend an entire day just killing other players quite happily. Everything you did in that game was to get better gear to be stronger for said pvp, I am well suited to PvP but the pvp in this game felt god awful to me, tab target pvp is a nightmare when there are dozens of characters. I still hope for a decent action combat pvp based mmo to role around someday, new world sure ain't it for me. It's fine for it not to be work for you, I grinded 100 hours for ONE LEVEL in my old mmo and I was quite content doing it, though I had a lot more time back then since I was only in school. Nevermind upgrading my accessories which blew up upon failure..
But as Yoshida said this community is overall more suited to casual content, 'work' in an mmo context means dozens of hours typically and that does not constitute casual in the least. If you only have a couple hours a day to play and you wanted the pvp stuff, well you are shit out of luck and that is unacceptable. I didn't complain about the huge grind in my old mmo as I knew that pvp and a more grindy competitive style was what I was getting into, not so with ff! It is vastly more casual friendly and the pvp was the main thing out of wack in that sense.
I said wanting some effort is fine, but to try and suggest that others need to adhere to your standard is not so fine. I had same in my old game, players thought that purely because they dumped an ass load of time in meant they should be respected and all dev choices going forward should be made with that thought in mind at the cost of new players.
Some people didn't try ff pvp because it had a rep for being bad, others did try and hated the clusterf*ck of frontlines, myself being one of them though I did enjoy the 8v8v8 before they removed it. Feast was so hard for me to even find as a new player nevermind get into and learn to go for high ranks. It was just a thing suddenly on my duty list and I had no idea what it was about and the game didn't tell me wtf it was either. I later learned it had the competitive mode but trying to find people was difficult and when I learned unless I was willing to deal with a massive grind, cheating and RMT then I shouldn't hold my breathe. Grind, cheats and RMT all have NOTHING to do with pvp, not wanting to participate in those things does not make me "not suited" for pvp it makes me not suited for tedious, frustrating crap... It's not even an enjoyable grind when you have to deal with win traders now is it?? I sat for hours in arena just dueling, there was no grind there just 1v1 tests of skill. No cheating as we would match our gearscore to each other it was true competition to see who was best not who could sink the most time in.
