Thats just the ones that really stand out. One of them we only finished with like 20 minutes left on the clock.
Getting turned around in Sastosha and having to double back for the glowing objects happens all the time too.
If the dungeons isn't literally a straight line, people will get lost sometimes, myself included lol.
I love every one of these threads or "horror stories" because more than half boil down to ascribing scary WoW Refugee status on the garden variety troll, or bad/new player, that we've had since the old guards of XI lost their iron grip on the community around HWs release.
You want to talk about real salt, bad players, bad attitudes, and real horror stories? Ask anyone who did Orbonne Monastery on the first week. It was wild.
Lets be real: the term "WoW Refugee" is becoming vegan status at this point.
Nobody knows a player is from WOW unless they're told, so I think 90% of the time it's just an assumption that when they see a bad player a WOW refugee gets blamed.
But everyone is pretty bad when they start out, and deserves a lot of patience and kindness.
Yeah, I don't buy that this is typical of the WoW player. WoW has actively trained players to rush through dungeons over the past 10 years. While I personally don't enjoy go go go dungeoneering, it's as much the norm in WoW as it is in FFXIV. My personal take is that if someone capable of soaking the damage is willing to rush through the dungeon, I'll follow them and do what I can, but I certainly don't prefer to play that way. I don't think this is specific to WoW players. All players vary in their preferences, and WoW players are no different in that regard.the tank (WoW player) was absolutely lost, this person began to complain about how fast we were going and not letting him conduct the run, so I said, “well this is how a normal run goes right?” what of course only opened the flood gates for this person to go all-out on how bad FFXIV players are because we only want to run dungeons fast and not respect new players, this person never said he was new, for 10 minutes I had to read how WoW players do dungeons and how FFXIV players suck
I first heard characters in an MMO referred to as "toons" back in Guild Wars 1. I always thought that the usage came from the Toon RPG that was published in 1984: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toon_(role-playing_game)
Some of my friends played that game when I was in middle school.
While I agree with what you said, I also believe that the WoW refugees are coming here to get away from all that, not to propagate it. I don't buy the OP's story.
