Has anyone quit healing?

I was hoping to come back to healing either with sage or astro having quit in 5.1
Good thing I tempered my expectations and yoshida got it out the way early in the LL I was going to be disappointed. Depending on the other changes made in EW, I might end up just playing gnb and a couple of dps or just flat out quitting the game entirely in search of another that actually cares about its healer players.

Sage is the latest addition to the 1 nuke spam with dosis. Glare/malefic/broil/dosis spam is terrible design. It has a handful of ogcd attacks and a 2m gcd attack. riveting *sarcasm*
Its also got tons of regens and bugger all shields, with some mitigation and self buffing that puts 2.0 and 3.0 whm to shame. It just goes to show nocturnal sect was executed in cold blood. It also appears to me to be what 5.0 sch was supposed to be.

Astro got lord/lady back and its healing style is at least changing to be more unique. Its capstone is good. Too bad the self buff is too weak to notice and the cards are still worthless and dull with no variety.

At least with these tooltips I know I wont be maining Sch. Probably will try Sage since it seems to be what Sch should have been and if not I'll always have the roles that the devs listen to, the dps

That's not true. Sage has Phelgma III for damage increase and movement. For the instances where the boss is out of range of Phelgma III and they need to move a lot they should do Eukrassia - Eukrassia Diagnosis up to 3x on three random targets, one of them being the MT preferably to negate completely losing GCD casts. Once broken you get Adder's Sting stacks that can be used for instant DPS neutral spells that provide you with the movement you need for a later mechanic. Adder's sting mechanic is basically providing you with 5s uptime per stack while sacrificing 1/2 of Dosis DPS's output for movement and possibly needed or not need heal + shield. For raids, it is a nice thing to have, it is better than nothing. The instant casts would synergies with Icarus really well. For dungeons not so much because you are not gaining damage.

I am personally disappointed in Adder's sting mechanic because it is useless for dungeon pulls. They might change something so there is that.

All in all, Sage's playstyle is much more fluid than that of Scholar. I will be playing Sage. They will be my main job most probably.

Astro should have kept Sleeve Draw. It is so much better than the new Lady / Lord of crowns because it would have secured your 3rd seals for the self-buff. The new self-buff is actually decent when you take into consideration that it has 1s recast time. The problem is that AST can't actually maintain it due to a lack of cards to draw.

Lets put it this way: The only reason my SCH will be lvl 90 is because I lvled SMN. But other than that I won't touch it.

This is from someone who mained SCH from 2.0 to 4.0. In Stormblood made me essentially shelve it, but I dabbled with it off and on.

Completely shelved it in Shadowbringers.

Endwalker just confirmed that with the "There wasn't much we could do with SCH" line.

i've said it before and I'll say it again

if you healer mains want to see real change come to boss design, dungeon/"""raid""" design, the job design, and the role design , stop playing the game altogether.. stop giving this company money that so obviously does not get put back into fixing the gameplay problems, hiring dedicated tank/healer devs, or sorting the spaghetti code to fix the atrocious scripted boss design. vote with your wallet, cuz we all know they don't pay attention to the real feedback, yet are willing to delete threads that may potentially ruin their precious preorder numbers.

Ah yes, a white knight to the bitter end.

One job within the role looks genuinely interesting, 2 more get some neat looking scraps to distract them from some slight of hand nerfs and the last gets to sit on a steel rod.

I too am genuinely excited to press the same button 100+ times per fight.

Lucky for me I can change from healer too meele dps and expect drg I have the free choice of the other 4 meele dps and funny enough even reaper. After playing healer for so long and only getting the boot expansion after expansion I actually can’t wait for it.
