I'm quite optimistic, but when you compare to the video demonstration with Dancer (how it was longer with many skills showed) two years ago, yes it's a bit disappointing.

Dancer's teaser is 45 seconds whereas Sage's is 51 seconds. Dancer revealed Cascade, Fountain, Reverse Cascade, Fountainfall, and the initial use of Standard Step (as in not the dances nor the finisher). In other words, we only got their most basic of tools revealed. Sage revealed what is seemingly a Cure, Adloquium, Glare, and Gravity equivalent--which are some of the most basic and standard healing tools.
My point is just that I don't think there's any reason to look at this teaser as if it's any indication of what Sage will play like, much like how the Dancer reveal tells you nothing about how the Dancer plays. Now, I'm not saying there's no reason to be worried about healing for 6.0. I abandoned healing in 5.0, but Sage has piqued my interest, and I'm cautiously optimistic (emphasis on 'cautiously').

Come 6.0 I'm just going to pull up my scholar and look at if they stuck to the tired old 1 dot 1 nuke philosophy.
If they did, then I think I'm just going to pick a tank or dps to play for the expansion instead and ignore sage

I didn't see anything too exciting with Sage, XIV sage doesn't even look like. Sage, it should have been named something else. Anyways, I feel you and I don't have hopes for the new healer, as you said, " 1 single target damage spell, 1 aoe damage spell and maybe a DoT + the usual healer kit."
Bye XIV
Actually, I think they were referring to how everytime they show a dps, it's this long super involved heavily detailed explanation; you get anything else from the devs on any other role and it's like, "Yup, it has things, there ya go." For like a minute and they move on.Dancer's teaser is 45 seconds whereas Sage's is 51 seconds. I am convinced no one in the dev team plays Tanks, and doubly so, no Healers; because if they did, we wouldnt be stuck in this same god damn situation where Tanks are relatively uninteresting with two copies of each other, and Healers are functionally exactly the same.
I'm just not convinced at all, Koji gave Yoshi a chance to say something about Healers at the showcase. "Are you done talking about this? Do you have anything else to say?" P very clearly knew what he was hinting at, and actively chose once again not to say anything.
Exactly like how they skipped the f***ing slide in 5.0 reveal, and when called out on it, denied it.
Well since we've seen all the abilities and tool tips for end walker I thought it might be fun to bring this back. I have officially gave up on healing in this game, whm is my fav job from a fantasy stand point and some of my fav ff games it's really sad to see how much I don't have fun with it. Oh well, at least almost all my skills from healers transfer to sam and blm. It's night and day playing healer and then transferring to a dps job.

I quit SCH today I can tell you that much lol, what a massive disappointment. Meanwhile SGE be lookin like a snack ngl.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. pew pew.
I hate the sage aesthetics and weapon, but I need to get the hell away from sch. Not doing 2 years' worth of this same gameplay.
Same. Either I'll AST or SGE.
SGE has EVERYTHING SCH has, but better.
"OH BUT PELOTON"
No, piss off.
unless it gives a very significant speed up, its a barely impactful buff that doesn't deserve the broilspam that comes with it

I was hoping to come back to healing either with sage or astro having quit in 5.1
Good thing I tempered my expectations and yoshida got it out the way early in the LL I was going to be disappointed. Depending on the other changes made in EW, I might end up just playing gnb and a couple of dps or just flat out quitting the game entirely in search of another that actually cares about its healer players.
Sage is the latest addition to the 1 nuke spam with dosis. Glare/malefic/broil/dosis spam is terrible design. It has a handful of ogcd attacks and a 2m gcd attack. riveting *sarcasm*
Its also got tons of regens and bugger all shields, with some mitigation and self buffing that puts 2.0 and 3.0 whm to shame. It just goes to show nocturnal sect was executed in cold blood. It also appears to me to be what 5.0 sch was supposed to be.
Astro got lord/lady back and its healing style is at least changing to be more unique. Its capstone is good. Too bad the self buff is too weak to notice and the cards are still worthless and dull with no variety.
whm and sch got nothing worthwhile
