PF does bite. I don't use it, nor do I know how to use it.The most valuable reward from an S rank is credit for the kill (which you only need to get 1 hit in to earn) but if you're after seals/nuts:
If you have a tank, swap, turn on tankstance and spam your skills. Any lv 80 tank can obtain full credit with current S/SS's, I usually just tomahawk and hop around.
If you don't have a tank and there are no parties in PF/shout chat, make your own PF listing. PF doesn't bite, theres no need to pray for an opening and miss out on rewards :c
And I was expecting more than 10 Seals for it. Was on dancer, no tank at the time.
Hunt listings in PF don't bite unlike listings for some other content.
The goal is to fill the party as fast as possible so the party has sufficient enmity for full credit. As a result, hunt party listings get set up for self-invite instead of having to wait on a party leader to decide to let you join. It's rare to find a hunt PF with requirements listed (an exception might be a train conductor having the last party slot locked so those arriving late will know which zone the train is in). The community is generally welcoming and it's not unusual to find party members giving a lift to someone in the party that hasn't unlocked flying in a zone yet despite that slowing them down.
If you had been in a party for the S rank, you would have gotten more than 10 Seals. Hunts are very rewarding for the time spent (perhaps too much).
It's definitely worth learning to use Party Finder. You do need to complete the level 50 quest "Let the Hunt Begin" at your Grand Company for hunt listing to appear in Party Finder. Once you've done that you can open Party Finder, click on World then The Hunt and it will display any open parties listed for the Hunt. Click a displayed party and hit Join. You're now part of the party. Or you can list your own party and others will join it the same way, no need for you to respond to shout requests for invite. Unless I'm showing up late, my parties fill within 10-20 seconds.
Don't let one bad experience deter you.
Honestly, this is the main reason why I feel like they shouldn't be dying as quickly as they do.
They forced level sync on older world bosses like Odin so you'd still have to exhibit some effort, so why something similar hasn't been put in place for "outdated" hunts that are considerably more rewarding then even current endgame content at times doesn't really make sense. It's even sillier when factoring in that ARR S ranks actually have more value then HW/SB ones due to Allied Seals being spendable on current materia.
