What would ruin my immersion is my character saying “wow look at that amazing ball gown” and your character saying “what ball gown?”.
Characters in the same world should see the same things.
My guess is if someone has the glam toggle on I doubt they would care enough to question.

So, I don’t know why this topic is polemic at all, really.
The option to turn off everyone’s glamour locally for the player would bring much more immersion to many people. I’m not offended nor believe any glamours are bad per se, I just don’t find them at all immersive or coherent with the world, it’s lore and it’s history. I also know many players that agree with me and even people that look at FFXIV and loose the will to play when they see how wacky and incoherent many people’s armor sets are, this people just tend to be older and/or not as loud and expressive online, so they just either keep on playing wishing for such a feature or don’t play at all.
So just give the option to turn off all glamours locally to anyone, it’s a local graphics option that doesn’t affect at all any other player.
Having options is always good. I’m surprised really that there isn’t a mod already that gives this option to players as it’s a simple graphical option.
Many players love FFXI and come from it, same with players that love more FF Tactics and FFs 2~5 and FFXII (while there are comical reliefs and things out of touch with the lore within said games, they are rare and sparse and usually easy to ignore by the player), the whole medieval fantasy crystal atmosphere. And would love for things to be graphically more coherent and in tune with the main lore itself.
That’s the main idea I’d like to discuss and ask Square Enix to implement into the game.
Now, in the same line: there could also be an option to locally make everyone’s mounts look like a their main chocobo companion to the player (local graphical option), because – just like with glamours – some mounts are just really out of touch with the game’s lore and are more of a joke, just so silly. Another very easy fix for people whom are bothered and just want more immersion, surprised again to see no mods / plug ins that fix this already.
Some players just want to have a more classic fantasy RPG experience like FFXIV used to be, and like FFXI and many other FFs are. Wouldn't hurt anyone, just a local graphics option, easy and harmless.
Thanks a lot for the attention, much appreciated : )
PS: while I'm at it, please, we need an option to disable main towns BMG (only), without disabling other songs from playing, just the main cities loop (it really gets repetitive if you're crafting or shopping or just wondering around in any of the main hubs for too long, I ask for the option to disable just that and not other areas BMG).
IIRC there's an actual quest where you unlock the glamor system, meaning that it is part of this game's lore. So adding such a toggle feature would be lore and immersion breaking. No thanks~~
In a word. No.
We also have literal quests and leves about dispelling or seeing through others' glamours, you realize?
When you create a character, there's a quest where the innkeeper tells you what a fancy name you have. To players who choose to only show initials you are called T. L.
