Yeah, I really don't get this silliness with not being able to share houses/apartments/FC rooms with alts, and not being able to send mail to your own alts on the same account. It's just a bizarre restriction. If it's supposed to combat RMT, it's likely failing. There was also a logout exploit a few years back that allowed players to have their characters friend their alts, then the alts could be added as tenant. SE patched the exploit so it can no longer be done.
It's curious that SE still won't let players friend their alts. The prohibition doesn't accomplish anything other than lead to more single player FCs to get around the mail/tenant restrictions. It certainly doesn't impact RMT, which is what players assumed it was intended to do, since RMT will always be operating multiple accounts.
They want you to pay more money for extra retainers instead of using alts for storage.
Easily avoided by creating a FC and adding your alts to it. Not only do you then have access to those alts for storage, you have access to the additional marketboard listings plus the FC chest to move items around and more storage.
They're still going to sell extra retainers because what's clogging up many player inventories is glamour gear, which can't be traded around, and because some hardcore crafters are still going to find 320 marketboard listings too restrictive considering the game lacks buy orders and the ability to purchase partial stacks.
