Expand Estate Sharing in lieu of the limited housing issue

    Basically the title.

I know the lottery is coming in Endwalkers, but I'm willin to bet it's still going to be a timesink to try to score your first house.

Whether the lottery solves the issue or not, people should be able to "estate share" with an apartment or FC room. I see no reason not to.

I know you can open rooms to the public but it's not the same.

    Thoughts?

Why would someone share an already limited space ?
Those who already do give rights to their friends to edit their houses.

I have an apartment and I’m not looking to share a house, I wish to buy MY house and build upon it from A to Z.

Lottery won’t solve anything since resellers and ward owners don’t have a money/number of characters issue. And with the amount of participants you can expect, it will be like trying to win the weekly Gold Saucer lottery.

LOL good luck for asking me to share a house because, I'm a hermit and the house only for me and my alts alone.

    Saintmillion,

Are you suggesting personal houses have a feature similar to FC houses in that people who don't own the house can buy a personal room associated with said private house? I've always thought something like this would be a fantastic feature for private housing.

If I want to share a house with my RL wife it would be nice to have both communal and individual spaces to decorate. We'd each have our private rooms to do with as we wished then the current house space for joint decorating.

The same thing could go for friends who don't have houses. I fully understand that it's possible to give other people permission to decorate your house if you want and those people would have full ability to decorate a personal space within the current house structure as they want if both parties agree to it. However, the limited item count could easily become an issue quickly. Adding a personal room, ala FC houses, to private homes would solve this issue.

I'd finally be able to have an attic space/upper floor in a small house!

Even better would be to make it so that people who have a private room in that house would count toward interaction with the house for purposes of demolition timers.

How do you share a house with your alts? I didn't think that was possible.

Apartments are still available on every world except Balmung so there's little need for tenants in apartments (except on Balmung).

No need for tenants in FC rooms when the friend can buy their own FC room (even if it were an option a tenant would probably need to be a FC member).

Besides, it's not apartments and FC rooms that players want. They want access to houses.

Increasing the tenant limits for personal houses would make sense. I recently started a FC with a few new players as members. The chances of getting a FC house for them to use at this point is slim (not interested in going to the black market) and none are able to purchase an apartment at this point (the closest needs to work on GC rank).

I don't mind sharing my house with the FC so they can have access to things like a Chocobo Stable and garden, plus the cheap teleport when they're trying to get back to Limsa but I'm limited to 3 tenants when I have 5 FC members other than myself. Fortunately they don't all want access for now but it would be a problem if they did or if I started growing the FC more rapidly.

Definitely would prefer this. I have my roommate capacity capped atm. I'd love to be able to allow a few more people in, give them access to housing details.

You can share with alts if you create a FC.

There was also a logout exploit a few years back that allowed players to have their characters friend their alts, then the alts could be added as tenant. SE patched the exploit so it can no longer be done.

It's curious that SE still won't let players friend their alts. The prohibition doesn't accomplish anything other than lead to more single player FCs to get around the mail/tenant restrictions. It certainly doesn't impact RMT, which is what players assumed it was intended to do, since RMT will always be operating multiple accounts.
