I just treat these forums with the same philosophy as I treat other people's glamour in game, if I don't like it, I ignore it. The amount of people who use forums in the way you describe is either extremely low or non existent, admonishing us all and telling us how to internet won't change that.

People will always go back and forth like this thread, and on a subject that is divisive it will keep rolling on like this one has. It's the nature of the beast if that annoys you then don't read it, because telling everyone how to internet is a futile exercise.

I tried. Hoping that someone would take a look and see that within the thread their supposed "perfect solutions" or "infallible counters" have already been mulled over several times. Sparing us further repetition within the same thread.

I cannot force everyone to educate themselves but I cannot be faulted for trying to show people the way.

I think the same thing every time another thread pops up about the MSQ dungeon cutscenes, but those always come back too.

I would like to note.. .yet again.. that every single point that is being brought up since this thread was dredged up (for good reason mind you as several carbon copies of it were started within the past weeks) , has been gone over a LOT within the 250+ pages contained in here. Instead of posting your reaction to the first and last pages, I can suggest actually reading some of it and seeing if your questions have already been discussed.

for instance:
Immersion breaking is an argument but it's not necessarily some sort of anxiety causing breakdown condition. It would be nice not to have wild and wacky people constantly thrusting themselves into your experience. It already happens and people who play deal with it, but them WANTING an alternative doesn't mean it's causing them actual mental distress.

Changing someone elses characters appearance on your personal computer does not equate to suppressing their expression in real life. There is no analog in the real world as to what this is as you cannot change only your personal optical perception in real life to the degree you can in the game so you cannot compare this to actively telling someone they cannot dress/be a certain way. Real world rules do not apply here.

Solutions as to : "it would make everyone look mismatched" "I'll just wear gear you hate that's silly/skimpy as my gear" "absolutely everyone would look the same" "it's hard to implement" "it would make more server strain" "I don't wish to have indentifiable screenshots in gear I'm not actually wearing taken by others" "I don't want to be shown in less than modest gear" have all be presented and argued over.

And it is just chock full of people proving that yes.. people do wear certain glamours to antagonize others and derive satisfaction from doing so. Yet there is no in-game option or avenue to avoid/block/report these people.

What you're trying to solve is people voicing their opinion. Almost every subject from every angle has been discussed somewhere on this forum but it isn't a wiki page, its a place of discussion and I for one am glad you can't "solve" that.

I would also much rather take part in an active forum where sometimes things get repeated than a dead one with only a few active threads.

What you're trying to solve is people voicing their opinion.

If you have additional thoughts or additions to what has already been brought up, I have no quarrel with those. However if what you have already stated has been taken past any of your own arguments or thoughts, why would you just repetitively post the same thing? Why would you want to read the same points every time? I go into these threads hoping people bring up salient points and then am disappointed when in order to get to some reasonable discussion we have to go through the same inane knee-jerk responses and hyperbolic fluff.

Almost every subject from every angle has been discussed somewhere on this forum but it isn't a wiki page, its a place of discussion and I for one am glad you can't "solve" that.

But when someone brings up an actual thread full of discussion about the current hotbutton topic.. why not spend the extra 5 minutes to search and read up IN THE THREAD YOU'RE POSTING IN and carry on from there instead of rehashing things that have been discussed to an impasse unless you have unique further thoughts?

Nobody is ever going to stop repetition and I, yet again, do not expect people to forum search whenever they think they have an idea, but IN THE THREAD ABOUT SOMETHING you probably should take some time to see if your concern/idea/quarrel/question/objection/reservation/addition has already been discussed and take it from where it left off instead of "but why"-ing into the same loop.

I'm not a moderator and I'm not trying to be. I just wish we could discuss different and new aspects of things at least in the same thread about them.

The first thing I said to you is it was futile try and change how people use forums, everyone already knows they have search features, nobody uses them because they want to say their piece.

You can try to take the moral high ground all you want but when it boils down to it your telling everyone to stop posting unless they have some hot take that hasn't been brought up before. Telling people to stop giving their opinion isn't something I will ever support, especially on a forum. I dont care if its a point thats already been made, forums have been like this since the dawn of the Internet.

If you feel like I was scolding you, maybe you think you did something wrong? I'm not patronizing anyone, If anything I felt I pointed out many of the different ideas and arguments that were already made and brought up the fact that those had in fact been talked about and were available to search. Things you'd be interested in if you wished to contribute to the discussion and not, as you are doing now, spending several posts telling me NOT to state my own opinion. I have no power here. I don't expect even a % of the people here to read what I say since it's more than 2 sentences, but I will have tried and I have stated what I came to say.

Assuming everyone knows what you do is a pretty closed minded approach. Yes people want to say the thing they want to say, I also would like to not address the same points over and over again and the 30th time I hear "but if you remove glamours entirely everyone will look weird" when it's been addressed again and again I feel the need to say MY piece. Are you trying to silence ME now?

No.. I'm asking people to do minor research so that a conversation can continue instead of folding back on itself constantly like a yarn-ball. You wanna "me too!" then fine. Give your opinion, I don't say anywhere in there that you shouldn't. I am expressing distaste for answering the same questions and smarmy "gotcha" comebacks that constantly get posted like they're some sort of revelation when they're actually already moot.

And "it should allowed to be like this because it's always been like this" is circular logic and not an arguing point.
