Actually I would argue a bikini is better, neither offers any protection but you would be much easier to hit with a giant death laser in full plate armour. Perhaps we should all fight naked, ya know, for immersion and stuff.
There is. It makes them generic pandering waifu bait. Same as Au Ra, Viera, etc... Without a consistent and unique art style in gear and racial gear especially its all just pandering.
Only if the "hide glamour" option affected everyone, including the OP...

I would like to note.. .yet again.. that every single point that is being brought up since this thread was dredged up (for good reason mind you as several carbon copies of it were started within the past weeks) , has been gone over a LOT within the 250+ pages contained in here. Instead of posting your reaction to the first and last pages, I can suggest actually reading some of it and seeing if your questions have already been discussed.
for instance:
Immersion breaking is an argument but it's not necessarily some sort of anxiety causing breakdown condition. It would be nice not to have wild and wacky people constantly thrusting themselves into your experience. It already happens and people who play deal with it, but them WANTING an alternative doesn't mean it's causing them actual mental distress.
Changing someone elses characters appearance on your personal computer does not equate to suppressing their expression in real life. There is no analog in the real world as to what this is as you cannot change only your personal optical perception in real life to the degree you can in the game so you cannot compare this to actively telling someone they cannot dress/be a certain way. Real world rules do not apply here.
Solutions as to : "it would make everyone look mismatched" "I'll just wear gear you hate that's silly/skimpy as my gear" "absolutely everyone would look the same" "it's hard to implement" "it would make more server strain" "I don't wish to have indentifiable screenshots in gear I'm not actually wearing taken by others" "I don't want to be shown in less than modest gear" have all be presented and argued over.
And it is just chock full of people proving that yes.. people do wear certain glamours to antagonize others and derive satisfaction from doing so. Yet there is no in-game option or avenue to avoid/block/report these people.

People aren't going to read 264 pages of arguing before giving an opinion. Expecting them to do so is completely unrealistic

I don't expect an exhaustive perusing of the whole thing. But chances are what anyone brings up has already been answered or discussed at length and is available to find with a quick search or two.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
You don't seem to understand. It's not that I'm upset that people don't see my glamour, I'm upset that you think people are entitled to be able to see my property that I'm trying to hide. I'm hiding my equipment for a reason and it's none of your business to see it. Again, my property, my decision. You don't get to see them if I choose to hide them. It's privacy, it's not rocket science. And I would sleep better knowing that peeping is made more difficult to accomplished, not easier. Again, scale matters, 1 peeper in an ocean of people is no issue. But if the entire sea of people all gain access to peeping equipment and can use it without your knowing? Sure, I wouldn't know who are actually peeping, but it would make me extremely paranoid, knowing my privacy can be violated by anyone at will.End of the day you are still getting bent out of shape over the mere possibility that people in a video game may not see your drip or style. With that being said never said you were okay with it, but the reality is it happens, so crying foul because the mere possibility of more people doing it seems weird to me cause why should the volume of players altering the appearance of others just does not seem to mesh with me. Like why get upset, if someone does not want to see me if a pink frog suit how exactly should that negatively impact me? Unless you are saying your own self worth or existence is tied to how many people see your overall drip and style choices? Which I do not think is the case, so in the context of the video what exactly are you showing outrage because someone does not want to see what armor choices you think look nice together.
What I am trying to get at outside of catching them streaming or if they say something you will never really know if someone is using the option to change the appearance of your character so what exactly are you getting upset over? You could easily just assume that not many use the feature and go on with your day only way to get offended is if you feel majority of the people will use the feature, then at that point I just have to ask why would you even think that?
Let me repeat it once again, just in case I wasn't clear enough. It's privacy, you're not entitled to see what I'm trying to hide. If you want an option to hide other people's glamour, then give me an option to opt out of being affected by that option. Again, just an option right?
