Stop the WoWificaton (ui mods)

So how about them UI mods? I still feel that anyone who uses them is rolling the dice with their account. That's basically what the devs have said.

The allure of customizability is undeniable. I look at it as kind of a good thing that XIV can be so customizable, because it means there's room for accessibility.
And anyway, since the only real issue is the possibility of harassment, as long as we are diligent and report those who are abusing these mods and harassing others for it, like we should be doing regardless, there really shouldn't be a problem if Jackie Smackie in Balmung has his menus pink with gold text and a sidebar that reminds him to "think thin!" as he plays, or whatever other cool new UI bits and bobs are being released lately.

I've used the basic UI in WoW for about 12 years now. I tried using all the fancy UIs them raiders use off and on, but I like a more simplistic UI. This is like having all the spell effects for everyone visible in a 24 man raid. Lots of pretty colors, but where's the dang boss?

Train your eyes by doing Eureka and Bozja fate bosses with all effects turned on in a full instance. :P lol

Or whatever the next superfate boss will be in Endwalker. Those had a whole lot of bright sparkly flashy lights too when I did them because I've always had all the effects turned on since 1.0.

Thank you for more eloquently stating my feelings on the issue. If people want the game to look, feel, and function like WoW, then go play WoW. I feel like something that makes boss fight mechanics definitely qualifies under "affects gameplay". Evidently there is even precedent for them taking action in the past with some kind of automarkers? That makes me feel a little better for sure.

I was really thrilled when I initially learned the game doesn't support or allow these addons. It was a breath of fresh air coming from WoW. And on PS5 I literally do not have the option. One of the key selling points of this game for me was a living room couch gaming experience in an MMO. And in every way thats been fantastic, but not when I hit the inevitable wall of "you need to download X to play with us" Oh well.

The term is WoW-Locusts. They are the people who constantly leave WoW cause it isnt good and play other MMOs but then want to change what they are playing into WoW. Then once it turns into WoW they quit because its too much like WoW. It is just them chasing those warm fuzzy feelings they had when they first started playing. So they take that new game feel from something like FF14 and then try and give it that coat of WoW paint hoping that drum up those fefes. It never works and always blows up in their face. Its nest to do everything in your power to stop them from having the locusts have a voice because they honestly just want to destroy anything they touch. This doesn't include the actual normal wow players who swapped to 14 to just play 14. This is just those toxic type i described.

Pictures like this are why i'm glad there's no built in UI mod support, for sure. In WOW you're EXPECTED to download addons to make your experience tolerable. I remember trying it myself (not any time recently) and absolutely hating how archaic the whole thing felt... only to be given a list of 10+ community made addons I needed to make it good. And of course it made it look very "graphic design is my passion" and difficult to see what was actually happening.

Contrast that with the system we have in XIV and I think it's night and day. They have expressed, many times, the reasons we don't have DPS meters. The UI having to conform to certain limits forces SE to display all of the information we need as cleanly and easy to understand as possible. And I didn't need to rely on 4DAHORDE720 for a good party list or hotbars. + I like that everyone (without using unendorsed 3rd party programs) is working with the same set of tools. Though more built in customisation for the sake of accessability would always be welcome.

LOL NICE!! Are you sure guys?! Is this that you want for ff14 interface?! but 14 is so clean...! Imagine clearing daldariana with all mechs with all these popping on the screen!! besides i understand all the love for wow, i played game myself back in the day, but look....one day i seen players complaining about duty finder....and i remember the last time i played a raid in wow classic, with no duty finder, to ghader more than 20 players i guees i waited about 4 hours to complete party, if not more! i mean, just to find players, not even entering the dungeon.
I think that an airplane cockpit is cleaner than that. And THIS is why i pay 14 subs!!
