% Gear definitely! Not only does it scale with level and to a certain point, that certain point is why you'd seek out better gear/food that has higher % cap per level range, which thus injects new life into the economy and better forms of itemization possible.

Raw stat additions does nothing for us currently till you hit a very high number due to higher base, so percentages would actually be better for our high base stats.

I like idea of percentage on unique gears so it will scales as we levelled up. That doesnt mean raw numbers is bad either, it will probably goes likr percentage is better until you can at least triple melds gears.

Aside from scaling, %+ gives min/maxers a fun time figuring out optimum payouts. Personally I'm not really fussed if it is there or not though.

It also gives more gear choices. Especially if you match certain things with solid stats. Like having a body piece with a solid stat, mixed with legs that have a % stat, just as a rough example.

Then we can have arguments such as "so and so set is better, and here's why!" Instead of "hey gais, we killed Ifrit in swim suits!"

And as someone said earlier, it makes scaling gear make more sense. I think of tamas and rajas ring, where the stat rose as you gained levels. It was a good idea that was rarely used.

Also, having percentage based gear can maybe be unique to end game content. It's definitely going to boost you in ways that materia can not. BUT, it'll make you want to match certain materia to make the best out of your percentage based gear. I think it's a much better idea seeing STR+9% on a body piece, compared to STR+30 on one, just as an example. It'll make people aim for certain melds, and in my opinion, satisfy the epeen players, as well as the casual players.

Wow really? I loved haste build in XI when it came to melee and especially with Utsusemi. They were high valued items in XI.

And game breaking as well, depending on which side of the fence you were standing.

Yeah I loved getting haste to the point where my Scythe was swinging almost at 1 hand speed Haste builds were great, the only problem was because haste was great to have people charged ridiculous amounts of gil for even 1% haste (Blitz Ring) when it didn't need to be so expensive lol.

Funny enough, they didn't want haste here because it was a 'mistake in xi', but in xiv the stats are so awkwardly done that slow doesn't even really affect you, let alone getting a real boost from large stat increases through materia atm.
