Can Ruin II have a different name for Scholar?

Because if you are forced to move a long distance or you need a double weave, a 1.5s cast time won't do anything for you.

I play AST. The 1.5s cast times are perfectly fine for moving and weaving. You should be planning out your weaves and put things on a priority list. Do I need the heal first or the damage first? I can draw this card, wait a bit to play it since I need to get out Horoscope. This is gonna be a similar idea for the coming SCH changes. If you need to move more, Switftcast in your weave window.

Personally I remember people who didn't sign up for BowMage in Heavensward rioting and I see this Half-AST casting as an affront in a similar manner. It's not the playstyle I signed up for, and unlike HW I'm not getting anything significant back for it. SCH players often have good reason to double-weave their oGCD actions due to pet constraints, Aetherflow management, and general fight tempo, and I don't see any of that going away in Endwalker. There's going to be situations where I'm gonna pop Fairy cooldowns, and that slight delay you're outright ignoring will get someone killed a few seconds down the line due to not being able to early-weave the action. Are they rare once you figure out a fight? Sure, but it's also not enough of a reason to remove Ruin II for the people who actually use it to their advantage in prog.

For WHM it's undeniably a buff. For SCH it's pointless unless they remove Ruin II outright, where it's then an outright QoL nerf.

BowMage was also the only time Straight(er) Shot was of any interest. Wanderer's Minuet was handled horribly, in that (much like Cleric Stance before it) it should have locked us out of reactivating the form, rather than into it (and it had too long a cooldown even then), but there are aspects of it I certainly miss, and will now miss on SCH.

But alas, given the choices between identity and conventional routes to capacity, even when just a bit more thought would allow us to have both identity and (differently given) capacity, people will quickly sacrifice the latter. Or at least the devs will on our "behalf".

So... it looks like it's official that Ruin II is now getting a third trait that increases its damage, yet the upgraded spell is still Ruin II rather than something new like how newer Broil IV and Art of War II spells were announced. Does anyone know why this is?

Because R2 was synonymous with "SCH weave/mobility spell" and we apparently wouldn't know what to do with... Ruination, or whatever. /s
