I will be waiting until we see official renders for them but I really hope that the one in the picture is not how it will be in the end. As someone playing an Au Ra, its already annoying that the Xaela females are so much different from their males. They could at least used the clans to make a difference here and even if that only came down to Xaelas being able to be bigger or having another set of emotes.

Hrothgar females should not be so much different from their males, that would be such a huge missed opportunity. We have small females, then a handful different version of cute/beautiful normal height females and two big female races. So if you want to play that you can already do it ingame. We, right now, have no way to play a beastly female.

I don't want to bring up real world issues or sound like an extreme liberal, but it's really weird how [generally speaking, not just XIV] male characters can range from literally 2 ft tall potato shaped, to towering buff guys, to brick walls with sumo bellies, or even outright monsters, and nobody bats an eye, but molding a female character as anything remotely outside conventional human beauty ...or a child, is seen as a cardinal sin.

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

I mean have you seen FemRoe, they are not built conventionally. In fact, they are built like a refrigerator (no joke they are super rectangular). However, they aren't played often so SE is likely not to go that path again.

    They should.
If their designers put just a little more effort into making certain features more attractive, this "Refrigerator" can be just as great, good looking, and popular as the same tiered Easy-Mode "Conventionally Attractive" women out there. There are people out there that like Women who dont look like Kim Kardasian or Insert generic super sexy Model here. Women of all types and sizes can be beautiful and Popular, not just One-Type of Woman. The same can be done with Characters in gaming. But just like these women who have to put in the effort to look good...designers need to put in the effort to make the character look good.

I might be the Minority here...but Dulia-Chai is an example of a Female Character that is designed Heavy, but she is still an attractive character.
Merlwyb is an attractive FemRoe built like a "Refrigerator"
Designs like these are not that hard to make. It just requires somebody who can put in some effort and not get scared and just fall back on the easy-traditional beauty standard that people are pressured into thinking is the only RIGHT way to look.

Why do you have to talk like this?
You're making it sound so negative when you say things like '' generic super sexy model '' I've never understood why people can't talk about this without sounding like they're being so negative about it.
Or that at least seems to be the intent especially in the context of the rest of what you're saying.
Like I dunno why you think that designing '' conventionally attractive '' women is '' easy-mode '' either while what you like is supposedly higher effort, I dunno where you get that from and it seems like it's meant to make what you want sound '' superior ''.
It's a really weird stereotype people have of character design where making '' conventionally attractive women '' is just done out of '' laziness '' and that it's supposedly easy and low effort.
    It's not.
In many cases especially for male artists it can actually be harder because you're actually designing things that you don't know.
Things like makeup alone is actually pretty hard to do well in art especially if you don't use it yourself same with hairstyles and softer faces and less sharp lines etc.

The same thing goes for the refrigerator thing, I just don't understand why people can't talk about this without framing things like this.
It always feels like people just have the one thing they want and then they treat everything else like '' lesser ''.
Like as much as you want to talk about pressuring it sounds like you want to do some pressuring here yourself.

On another note, I ordered the other available artbooks a while ago and did indeed see more art of the Au'Ra and as I suspected the one image people kept spreading around was just that one image amongst others.
And the others are far more similar to what we actually got.
Altho I don't believe that these are the only ones either just the ones that made it into the artbook but still.
If you watch shortly before too where you can see the male Au'Ra there's even concepts of them looking like straight up Lizards like in The Elder Scrolls.

Same could be said about the people who put down the FemRoes and call them ugly, say they are built like refrigerators, call them unattractive, say that no woman looks like this, basically saying there is only one right way for a woman to look. That to, is negative. And I am STRONGLY, against this mindset in Design, and in Social Structure.

I call it easymode because if you look at most Female character designs, they are almost always designed to be slim, and sometimes look like hot super models. When there could be varying designs, almost always, female characters are made to be slim and "Conventionally attractive". Now, Im not knocking it exactly, but my main point is everybody does this, and falls back on it, and very often dont try new things; new bodytypes. Yes I do think its a degree of laziness, but No I dont think ANY bodytype is superior...thats not my point at all.
There have been many times people have said "The FemHroths should follow suit to the MaleHroths and have the Roe body." While people counter with its unattractive and not popular. Even if this is true to some extent, why shouldn't it be given a chance? Why does it just have to be the same bodytype we already have across 90% of the Female options currently in the game?

Sorry to ignore your 2nd part, but it doesn't relate to my argument/points. Or I guess the conversation.

Not that I disagree I would like to see different body types across the board. A chubby male and female body type would be fun to play as. Miss my ToR body types. That said I do get where people come from why put in the resources for coustlmzation options that do not appeal to a larger portion of the player base.

This is part of the reason I will be shocked if fem do not look far less beastly then their male counter parts. If they do I will be pleasantly surprised.
