Well it's more suited than PS3 at least <.<
But I also think that it ain't gonna happen. They should make a different MMORPG for it that profits from both touch thingies and all the sensors, cameras, etc.
I would definately buy it if it had FF quality (by FF quality I mean any FF except XIV)

Selling games like Lumines $40 on a handheld console nowadays is just retarded... When next to that, you get iOS offering you tons of similar fun puzzle game for less than $9.99 for 99% of them.

The average consumer is not willing to pay that much anymore for handheld gaming, unless it has a real added value compared to what you can play on your phone/iDevice.

Regarding PSP, it's just as easy to hack a PSP than jailbreak an iDevice. Yet tons of games are being sold on the appstore everyday. Why? Because consumers judge that prices asked for these games are fair. Paying $0.99~$9.99 is fine. Paying $40 isn't.

Some companies realized that, and rather than adding stupid DRMs and stuff in their game, they have been lowering their day one MSRP (SEGA sold Sonic Generations on PC at $20 on Steam, at launch...). Steam sales is the perfect example of what customers wants. Games, at lower price. And actually a LOT of people are willing to pay. Including those who could pirate these game easily (I'm one of them, got a 50mbps line, newsgroup access, I can literally get any PC game within minutes) yet I am still spending $ when I consider that the price is right (Sonic Generations, Dungeons Defender, etc.).

The gaming industry is just walking on the same path as the music industry. Blaming pirates for everything.
I don't know about lumines, but of course if you can get a simple puzzle game with the iPhone, you will get it with the iPhone and save money. What you can get with vita, like uncharted and other full console games you can't with the iPhone. Lumines is made by ubisoft, don't blame Sony for th price. I think $40-50 for a triple A game with vita is fair. Actually th vita prices are much fairer than the ps3 ones. They range from $20-50 while a new Ps3 game goes from $40-60!

That's why I mentioned at 2.0. The current engine isn't optimized even for the crazy ass pcs! But according to th devs, the new engine will be optimized to run even with the crappy pcs. That's why it's feasible a ps3/vita ffxiv in 2013 with decent graphics and fps.

Yeah, 2.0 will open so many possibilities. XIV on Vita is extremely unlikely, but some form of use with XIV via some sort of app would be possible. I think I heard somewhere about Square Enix proposing to create a Vita app for inventory-checking and other basics.

Yoshida said that oct 2011. But I think an app for iphOne is ok. An app fOr vita is a huge missed opportunity to make $$. Plus, no one will use an app for vita, they would rather play the game on vita and use an app via iPhone when facing poor 3G connections and no wifi

Having had the chance to try out the Vita for myself, it would be pretty cool to play the game on it. Of course, they have to get the game to run on a PS3 first, so one thing at a time.

Even with the new engine the Vita could not run FFXIV -.- how powerful do you think the Vita is?

As much as the ps3. If we can play a ps3 game , pause it, and continue on the vita, means that it can run it. But I'm waiting an answer from the devs if its only a dream or if it's being considered. We will be getting ff X for vita/ps3, but I really expect square to surprise us in a good way as they always do.

the games that will let you do that so far look below average as of PS3 standers, and no the Vita is not "as good as a PS3" I don't care what BS Sony spews out about it, spec wise it is no where near. I dont hate the vita, I plan on getting one myself, but I am not fooled by marketing ploys

The Vita can run FFXIV as much as the PSP could run FFXI (aka not at all)

don't get your hopes up to much, all the vita will be doing is running a PS2 game with slightly better textures.

Final fantasy 14 will probably never even release on ps3 they cant even finish the 1.21 patch in the time they said.

I maybe sound a little harsh but i just finished my 50 somethingish moogle fight with another 3 dark matter under my belt and 2 weapons (nether i want) after 3 months of 4 moogle runs a week and im a little pissed off about that right now.
    someone needs a hug lol
