Regarding the memory card prices, sure it's expensive, but thats because they had to control it to stop piracy. In case you forgot, they make money with software not hardware. The psp was plagued by piracy which made developers stop producing games to it. That's the whole reason why they decided to go proprietary. You seem to complain about the memory card , but you can't seem to praise them for taking out that proprietary earphone of psp away. Now we can use any kind of device to reproduce the sound with fidelity. Don't blame Sony, blame the freeloaders.
What drug induced you to come to this conclusion? Proprietary has always been about making money not stopping piracy. How do you think a proprietary memory stick stops piracy? Sure didn't on the psp.

Take a look at their piss poor support regarding UMD's/PS and you can smell a money grab a mile away. They have no problem with people paying three times over for the same game.

It could probably even run ffxiv as broken as it is right now but the fps wouldn't be enjoyable (I'd guess something around 20fps).

The biggest problem I see though is the mass of updates. Unless you can write on the game's memory stick this game would be filling your all-purpose memory stick with 12GB of tiny files.

Another problem is the low resolution... how you want to fit the walls of text ffxiv currently spams at you into that small display? xD

    edit:

    I pick option 3

I might be wrong, but the updates, will shrink in size. I got a 32gb card, basically I guess that this will be able to update ff xiv for 10 years lol.

My psp runs any memory card. They are not proprietary. You can hack the system and run pirated games via those memory sticks. Which you can't with the vita since the memory is locked by Sony and the game cards are needed to run the game. Impossible to hack that, I dont know, but that's gonna take a long time. Just like the ps3. Plus, from what I see, you gotta update the system to connect Online, and the games, uncharted for example, had a non mandatory update to fix bugs.

    It has less cores
huh? how can it have less cores? Idk how many cores it had but from what I have read it has a quad core, and the PS3 has a cell core which is only one processor. So if it has less cores than the ps3 than that means it doesnt have a processor at all. Is the psvita running on magic? I think your thinking about how many SPE's the PS3 has.

Do I have to explain the difference between "Core" and "CPU" or are you able to google that yourself? <.<

That's true. It's quad core. In theory is faster than the ps3. Unless you are naughty dog and make use of all those spe's plus memory management.

The Cell has 1+7(6 are usable actually) cores available. The 7 SPEs might only be RISC but they are still very fast. The CPU of the PS Vita is also just an ARM and can't be compared to an x86. The Cell is even so powerful that it can do rendering jobs.

Cel can go 3.2mhz vita so far 1.5 MHz. That can be unlocked later though via an update. Since the resolution is way less than the ps3 gotta handle, and the memory is twice the ps3, I think it can do basically the same graphics as the ps3. With minor differences, plus cross chat.

I think XIV on Vita would be lovely, though I would just be happy with an app that lets me check my bag/inventory and buy stuff on auctions/marketplace.

That would be so nifty to have any form of interaction with XIV on Vita!
