Last from the Devs is they are indeed planning to bring back Hildy in 6.0.

Also, there is a dungeon in 5.0 you have a chance to randomly see him. It's just an easter egg, but it's fun nonetheless. Not going to spoil it, but it's the last dungeon in the 5.x series on the First.
