You are missing the point. If SE actually decided to ban all modding they would. There are mmo's that scan your files when you launch the game to detect abnormalities. You can't start the game if anything is detected.
"you're a pearl clutching puritan only in it to win moral points if you don't like that creeps create nsfw mods of underage characters and lalafells"
do some of you people even read what you type before sending it or do you not realize how effed up it is to defend actually illegal modifications that break the laws of several countries and subsequently blame the people that take an issue with it?
just because kids and teens can easily find porn on the internet, that doesn't make it okay for similar content being proudly displayed in-game by people who can't keep it in their pants for more than 10 seconds, like, what kind of backwards argument is that? even if it'd be an effing AO game it'd still break the TOS, unless it's stuff like SL, because developers and publishers usually do not want to be associated with pornography of it's characters, especially if they're underage
When people really want to, they could bypass or trick that scan.
You can't win that battle.
One thing I don't understand about all of this modding is how blatantly people display what they are doing. Streamers show ACT/XIV launcher and say hey guys its ok as long as we don't blah blah. Yoshi has specifically said it isn't OK. People post all kids of lewd garbage of XIV characters all over the place as well. If you are going to do these things why not simply be discreet about it so you don't have to push their hand? I don't understand the need to keep pushing the boundary. If they do clamp down on it one day you will only have yourself to blame.
You really are adamant on having spyware scanning our games, aren't you? Might as well punish people who use Discord's overlay, NVIDIA GeForce Experience and ReShade/GSHADE while we're at it.
I wasn't planning to reply but oh well.I'm talking about the mods here. You keep going back to the ERP involving minors.
Maybe you should tell your friend here not to talk about it. No, it is not on the parents that their kids are playing a T game and are a T.
Anyway, I am talking about individual responsibility. Of course they won't do it. If they did, they would not have made or used these mods in the first place, because no responsible person would do that. I don't actually expect any of them to do the right thing, but they argue nothing can be done. However, that is not true. They can simply stop doing it, and most certainly don't post it on Twitter all the time. It shouldn't be about what you think you can get away with, and instead it should be about what is right.
There is a legal way for SE to handle this, but it is a really sucky method, but it could come down to that or worse.
Yes it is on the parents to monitor their children & TEENAGERS on the internet. They are not adults and are not able to make the same educated decisions that an adult would. Therefore, the parents should 100% be involved and it shouldn't even be a question of whether or not they should be involved. If you're trying to give parents a free pass to be lazy in their kids lives while shoving 100% of the responsibility on other people....oh boy that's the real problem here.
It's a two way street. It's on both. It always has been. It's on modders to try to keep their content as close to an adult audience as possible and on parents to monitor their kids and help them stay safe online.
You can ban mods off FF but lewd images and things will still crop up in other forms. Hell, there's websites dedicated to it. If you don't want the teenagers in your life to see it, have some personality responsibility and put in parental controls.

SE had a community rep post on these forums and said words to the effect that GShade is acceptable but they will not support it if you have issues with the game as a result.
