I think the komainu minion came later? Not completely positive on that.

I agree. Fold the achievement and veteran point systems into one thing and actually add content to it once in a while.
Heck, if they really wanted, I would be fine with them offering a store coupon system as a potential reward. Exchange a certain amount of points for a 10% off coupon that you could stack for up to 50% off any one item in the store such that you could get the 50% off every half year or so. While I consider many of the store items to be overpriced, if I could get them at 50% off I would actually consider buying some of them.
I've voiced on this whenever this comes up:
My wish is simply to allow us to exchange veteran/achievement tokens for MogStation rewards, even if it's at a crazy rate.
I have 10,210 achievement points currently and apparently I have 192 of the currency. I wouldn't expect it to buy something like the Lunar Whale or whatever, but something as simple as $0.10 per point would net me a $19 purchase after all these years. Or make it exchange to Crysta so I can put it towards something I want.
That's the thing I don't think SE thinks about- There's an untapped market out there for people like me:
To date, I've not spent a single cent in the MogStation, but I have spent maybe 50-$100 in the GuildWars 2 shop...simply because I could use in-game means to earn currency for their shop... which I then add $5 bucks or whatever to make it enough to get the thing I want.
As an example, the new Cruise Chaser is 29.99 USD; I'd pay an additional 10 for that on top of 19.00 from my achievement currency. 30? a bit much...
While I definitely want them to give us more things to do with the achievement points and the certificates, I do not want the cash shop involved whatsoever. I'd rather keep that wholly separate, and it'd be ripe for abuse for people hacking accounts, stealing their certificate points, and using them to buy regift items to sell on eBay.
Instead, I like the idea of adding another in game source of fantasias, of rare dyes like jet black and pure white (the unsellable ones, not general purpose) like you can get with gold feathers, or a direct trade for Poetics. New items would be great too!
Sitting on 16,540 achievement points and 317 currency on my character, with absolutely nothing left to spend it on.
But....giving away free things doesn't make money!
I'm pleased to see that there's a decent amount of support for this! Hopefully our community representatives will see it and pass it along to the development team.

Perhaps just adding certain Mogstation items as purchasables within the Achievement vendor isn't a bad call- I definitely support consumables like Fantasia or dye, but would also like to see more...interesting choices. Maybe old event rewards that were originally free anyway. While I definitely want them to give us more things to do with the achievement points and the certificates, I do not want the cash shop involved whatsoever. I don't think it'd be too difficult to come up with ideas for unique rewards, at any rate. For example for minions, how about a Wind-Up Arenvald or Wind-Up Riol? Or a Wind-Up Lahabrea?
I'd love to see more achivement rewards in general. I've said for awhile now I'd like to see healer mounts added, as an example. Healers are often the most needed class in the DF, this could revitalize queues and reward players who already play healers often. Other achievements just make sense to have a proper attached reward, and more rewards would make achievement hunting more palatable.
