There is no part of this game that requieres a cash shop. Imagine in fact: Mounts were released BEFORE there was any cash shop.

No, but certain things are made FOR the cash shop but not for "free" in game by a whole other team, ergo said things would not exist if not for the cash shop. The cash shop is here, and has been here since the game's conception/rebirth. It isn't going anywhere, and they have been pretty open and fair about the whole thing compared to many other MMOs.

Cruise Chaser could perfectly be just the drop of it's trial, a new trial, pvp, gold saucer, achievements, etc. Hell, it could be an amazing subscription reward.

Here is the thing. If the quality of the game goes down to point where it is unfun, and they add cash shop items more than content. Than I will be with you all upset. Right now that time is not now.

The reason I see this as bad is because Cruise Chaser is assets from the game, made by the dev team.

A long held stance for cash shops enthusiasts is, "Stuff made for the cash shop is made by the cash shop teams, so it doesn't affect development time, and the dev team is not involved!"

Well, would you look at that. The dev team is involved. Granted, it's an old raid monster, but really, it has an 8 man rideable animation which actually has all 8 people ride it in its fight. It actually repositions them, so it already had all of the data to be a mount.

Exxxxxcept Yoshi-P has gone on record multiple times across liveletters, interviews, etc to talk about how the mogstation team works independently from the main dev team on their projects, and that the stuff they design/create is only intended to ever be sold for $$$. He's also talked about how the Chinese & korean companies that host the game in those countries have commissioned the mogstation team to create time-exclusive outfits for their regions for the sole purpose of being sold as microtransactions.

Everything the mogstation team does is MADE FOR the sole purpose of being on the cash shop. Full stop, no ifs and/or butts. To believe otherwise is being willingly ignorant to the reality of how the mogstation team operates.

If you want anyone to blame, Yoshi-P had 5 years since the Creator tier came out to make Cruise Chase a mount, and never did. The mogstation team merely capitalized on an idea Yoshi-P was never going to do. It not being on the cash shop wouldn't magically make it in the game, that's not how game development works. it would have likely stayed in the void of cut content and the mogstation team would have made something else instead of CC.

Q: Will we get a certain outfit from the mog station?

A: Does everyone want that? Not a lot of response from the crowd. So with the Mog Station it is ruled by a powerful empress. More power than I am. She has mentioned creating this uniform and gear would be very difficult and costly. Basically said if everyone promises to purchase this new item we might consider making it. Would you promise to buy it? (The crowd had mixed reactions). I guess I’ll have to do it.
